Does anyone know how to get hold of a child seat for a 1998slk? I'm talking about the official ones that disable the airbags. It's to suit a five-year-old.

I got mine on Ebay; I think it still cost me over $150.

Mine ended up being $155. I think the one from the dealership is $290. I called them and spoke to the part dept before I got the ebay one. The under 40 lb seat was close to $600 though.

Just search for Mercedes Babysmart - any seat which is babysmart has the sensor to disable the airbags. I purchased an infant seat for $25 from ebay and took out the sensors - two oval shaped objects from the bottom of the seat and put it in my son's regular booster seats and it works like a charm.

About a year ago I picked up an older type BabySmart baby carrier type seat on E-Bay (I paid $15 for it) I plan on removing the sensors - they're locked in with tamperproof Torx screws, and putting them into my 5 year olds booster.
