I had a RENNTech exhaust on my SLK 230, and loved it.......

The car sounded GREAT.! Sold the system to "Silky" and I believe he likes it as much as I did. [|)]

I considered it.....

I am doing the ECU, pulley kit and cams but skipping the exhaust. The reason is that $7K for the full system is a little crazy for the minimal gain on the factory AMG system which is preety well designed. When they lower the price to under $3500, I might begin to think about it! Granted that the SLK32 system includes for cats but $7k buys a lot of cats and SS tubing!

Save money.......

and take off the resonator and replace it with exhaust pipe. It is easy and you can change it back if you don't like the sound. It also decreases back pressure so it surely raises horsepower a little. Two people have done it already and both have liked it. This is on slk32's of course.

I'm considering a renntech exhaust for my 230

I'm considering a renntech exhaust for my 230. They make one with a resonator and another with a sound pipe. Bruce R., which did you get for your 230?

I bought mine in 1998, there was only one........

there was only a muffler on it, no resonator. It sounded great.

Would either the sound pipe or resonator give me more horsepower than the other?

Would either the sound pipe or resonator give me more horsepower than the other? What's the difference between both?
