CD not working after Battery Change

My battery went dead yesterday and I had the car jump started. The dealer changed the battery but I later noticed the CD player was not workign any more.
First few times I turned it on, it said Code on LCD but now it shows "Wait" when I trun it on and no button works. I wonder if this issue is related to battery change.

Appreciate your help.

Did you enter the code to the radio? Without that it is not supposed to work. After battery replacement the radio may not recognize the CD player any more until powered on once in correct order. Try this:

1) Switch off the head unit
2) Disconnect the cables behind the CD changer for a minute or so
3) Put back the cables. Wait say 30 secs
4) Switch on the radio. Wait another 30 secs
5) Select the CD. The head unit should now find the CD changer and play CDs.

This way, I got my CD player working after the battery change.

The radio requires a security code to be entered when power is removed. The dealer should have done this for you. You'll need to get the code unique to your radio from a small card with your owner's manual package, or get the code from your dealer based upon VIN.

I have the serial number card (Ident_Karte). I followed the manual and entered the last 5 digits on the card but after entering and pressing OK (using the last soft key) I am presented again with CODE on LCD. I bought the car a year ago but I doubt it that the id card is not for this unit.
I am a bit angery that had to pay $227 for a battery change and still have to deal with these issue. I might as well have replaced the dead battery myself.

What do you mean by "once coded from new"? We still need to enter the code, no?

get the serial # from bottom of head unit, sometimes it has been replaced, take it to MB dealer or just call them if they know you, they will give you the appropriate radio code for that head unit. takes them 30 sec to look it up on computer. The dealer should have done this after installing battery! if you try the wrong code more than three times it locks up and you get "wait" look in the owners manual to clear this up, a real pain in the ass. Take it back to dealer and make them clean up their mess.

$227 for a battery change? My battery only cost $106 from the dealer -- I installed it myself -- and my 320 battery is bigger than the 230 battery. So it was over $100 for 5 minutes of labor???

I will never go back to MB dealer in Cary, NC. It took them an hour to change it too.
I got the code over the phone after explaining to them how incompetent they are and I can't waste my time to go there just so they don't have to do it over the phone. Thanks everyone. This forum is great.
