SLK 32AMG for sale - FL - 2002 - 56K miles - $27,500
Alright you SLK heads... I'm selling my dream car... I would prefer not to sell it because it kicks ass, but I'm going to buy an $11,000 Miata and put the difference towards my "buy a house" fund... I will have another AMG one day...
If you are paying attention you know $27,500 is a GREAT deal. Don't let the fact that I've only got about $24,000 in it interfere with what you know is a great buy...
Currently, Autotrader.com has 36, 2002 SLK32 AMG's for sale and this is just about the lowest priced one available. There are 83 for sale in the country (2002 - 2004) so this is your chance.
I can send pictures on request. It's silver and in EXCELLENT shape. It has none of that crappy sun damage to the interior as it was a Chicago car. Clean carfax, new tires, EXCELLENT condition. I think I'm gonna cry now...
Anyway, the add goes in autotrader on Wednesday or Thursday, and you know I won't have any trouble selling it so don't bicker with me on the price. If you can afford $26K then you can afford $27.5K. Either way I'm selling it to some lucky bastard for $27.5K.
Because of the fact that you are here, I think you guys are the coolest so I'm offering it here first. I would ask for more, but I don't want to draw it out...
I'm in Treasure Island, Florida (next to St. Pete Beach). If you want to have it checked out at a dealership or by your mechanic that's cool with me. I have nothing to hide. The ONLY thing I can find wrong with the car is the fact that the driver window when all the way down stick up about 1/4 of an inch. It works perfectly and there is not scratching on the window or tint, but it sticks up just a hair when rolled all the way down.
Quick question. If you bought it for $23,000 on 11/06, why are you selling it for $27,500 on 12/06?
Did you add $4,500 worth of aftermarket stuff or upgrades?
no, but he got a tremendously good deal on it and he is one of those lucky ones that will actually get to make money on the car and still sell it for a very good price.
the fact the he actually revealed the really low price he paid for it lets you know hes a very honest man.... not many people would do that.
damn, if only this deal would come up next year (around april) I would jump on this with a heart beat..... o well, good luck with it.
It is true that I am trying to profit from the sale of the car. That might offend me a little bit also, and I would normally probably not buy this car from me on "general principal" because I'm out to make a buck, but that's the way the world works...
It's still a great price. I win. You win. Gotta love it.
The guy I bought it from in Chicago showed me his sales receipt from July, 2005 where he paid $38,500 for it at I think it was a Bentley dealership...
Admittedly, it was an impulsive an impetuous purchase on my part. I was looking for a 230, but I was disappointed in the way they drive. Then I drove the 320 and I liked that, and then I found this one for a price I just couldn't refuse...
Anyway, I'm not a real flashy guy, and I sock 25% of my income in savings. I don't own my home yet, and although I can afford to drive and maintain this car it's not the most prudent thing I could do at this point in my life. My wife even wants me to keep the car. I did not purchase it with the intent of selling it.
I believe it is better suited for a person at a different point in their life than myself (I'm trying to have a baby and purchase a home...)
Second, I had a Miata for 6 years. I paid $6900 for it and sold it for $4000. The brakes are cheap, the tires are cheap, the battery was cheap. It's the only maintenance the car required in 6 years.
Third, I'm lowballing these idiot sellers with prices based on market rents so they think I'm crazy. I believe there is a bubble and the correction will last for years and years. Sooner or later a seller is going to bite at my reasonable offer (which they think is ridiculous because of the ridiculous run-up in prices). Currently, I save $3000 a month by renting, and I could rent a million dollar home for under $2000 a month and still save that much or more; who the hell are these idiots paying these ridiculous prices? Anyway, that's a pet peeve of mine... (see thehousingbubbleblog.com) When they are only selling very few houses a year it doesn't take too many bad comps to become a pattern. The pattern is developing, yet I don't expect a seller to take me up on an offer for at a minimum of 6 months, but I have nothing better to do, and I expect to live in my next home for 40 years or more so I don't mind overpaying "a little" which is a lot less than any seller will even consider these days!!!!
But thanks for the realistic advice!! Too bad everyone isn't firmly planted in reality instead of the pyramid scheme the real estate market has become over the last few years...
I know what you mean about Miatas. I've owned the following 5 Miatas:
1991 BRG SE
1991 Silver
1994 Red
1995 Merlot SE (picture below)
They are great cars and soooo cheap to repair and operate. Way cheaper than Mercedes. If you're on a tight budget, a Miata is the way to go. I sold my Merlot for $5000 and then bought my SLK230 Sport.
