I recently purchased a 2000 Slk230 sport and I have a few questions to ask.<br> <br> (1) It has the hardware for the integrated phone, can I attach any motorolla star tac phone or does it have some sort of propriety code that will only allow me to use one from MB. If I have to use an MB phone, where is the cheapest place to pick one up?<br> (2) The car came with chrome AMG rims, was the chrome an option or was it dipped by the previous owner?<br> (3) Man I know I had more questions than this to ask…….*goes blank*<br> <br> Oh well I guess that’s all for now. Thanks in advance<br> <br> Oh yeah the door panels by the pull handle are un-sticking from shutting the door. Any chance this is still covered by the warranty? <br>
Warranty is four years, bumper to bumper. Bring it to your local MB dealer.<br> Chrome wheels were done aftermarket either by plating or putting on a wheel manufactured by some company other than MB . No SLK came with them.
1. You must use a M-B phone. A regular Motorola Startac won't work. The phone itself is about $400 as I recall. I have no idea where the cheapest place to get one.<br> <br> 2. Chrome was not an option from the factory. In fact, no AMG wheels come in chrome. All are done aftermarket. However, most of the M-Bs you see with chrome rims are done by the dealer and installed before delivery. Dealers charge around $1K for extra for it, of which about $600 is profit.<br> <br> 3. The door panels are covered. It's a fairly common problem on '98-'00 SLKs. When I had my '99 SLK230, the dealer replaced the door panels under warranty for the same problem and the car was 2 1/2 years old at the time.
Best place to get MB phone that will integrate with your car is on ebay orother auction site.<br> Will save at least 50% Usually 1 every week is posted.<br> <br> Jack
