Clear Headlights INSTALLED!!! Group Buy Sign Up!! UPDATED with Prices!!
Well, I'm a relatively new member, but I've been modifying cars for a bunch of years now recently coming off of a RX-8 and E39. I've been watching the clear headlight thread and quickly realized that nobody here really wanted to front up the money to try these out for quality and fit and I've been itching to get rid of the fuzzy headlights on my SLK320 since I bought it 2 months ago. Well, today I took the bullet for all of you, and man am I glad I did! These look fantastic and the fit is actually a little better in my opinion then my stock lights!! If you've ever removed the headlights in this car you already know it take a little bit of wiggling it around to get it perfect, the same goes with these. The quality is much better then I expected, and the fit around the body panels is damned near perfect.
These literally make the car look years younger, they look incredible in person, and I've attached some pictures I took of them today. Although they are H4 housings and our stock lights are H7's, I was able to plug some new H4 HID bulbs directly into the wiring from my aftermarket HID setup! I was thrilled about this!! Otherwise, the wiring is all plug and play ready to go, the connectors all look like the stock wiring, the colors are the same as stock as well, quality was near if not identicle to stock.
I am working with the vendor and am going to help them setup a group buy for these lights for this site since I was the test subject and got some actual pics up for all of you to see. They are going to be giving me the pricing for these later tonight or tomorrow, you will have the option of getting them with stock halogen bulbs, with a full HID kit, or with just the H4 HID bulbs if you already have an aftermarket HID kit in you're car. They have around 30 sets available currently, so please sign up here and I will add you to the list of people for the group buy. Once I get the rest of the details regarding price and shipping, you will call or email them directly with you're information. So Post up and I'll add you to the list!! In my opinion they are worth hundreds more $$ then they are selling for!
Here is the final pricing for the lights directly from the vendor, I will be PM'ing all of you on the list so far with the sellers email address so you can make payment arrangements with them directly.
*Standard Halogen setup- $270.00 shipped (Pay by Money Order) or $280.00 by Paypal. If want the Super White H4 bulbs included, please add $10.00 for a brand new pair.
*Standard Setup with H4 HID Bulbs ONLY- $320.00 shipped (Pay by Money Order) or $333.00 by Paypal.
*Full Headlamp and HID setup- $430.00 shipped (Pay by Money Order) or $447.20 by Paypal. For this price, we will not do the HID pre-installation, they can do it themselves to save a few bucks.
* Chrome Signal Bulbs (Amber output) is $10.00 extra for a pair if purchased with the Headlights
* High-Power LED Interior Bulbs is $15.00 extra for a pair if purchased with the Headlights
You will not be taking Credit Card payments for those orders. And headlights are designed for LHD (Left Hand Drive) car only. The HID's bulbs and ballasts include 1-year full manufacturer warranty. If it's manufacturer defect, all they have to do is send it back and we will replace it. As for now, the H4 we have in stock have 6000K or 8000K choice only. Shipped will apply only to US 48 states Non-PO Box / APO / FPO address. Basically where UPS ground can go.
The difference on price for paying MO and PayPal is 4%, the 4% is what PayPal charges us for the service fee on the payment receiver, we just pass that on whoever wants to use PayPal. We don't make money on it, just to be clear.

Reason: Updated
So my 2001 320 has what lights stock, halogen? is the HID any different or better and how much extra will that option cost and what would be the ease of conversion for a beginner to it? Im a bit confused of all the light terminology. They look great! Where did you get them, ebay? There are several sellers on ebay with them listed. Do a search for r170. Anywhere from $279(seller- redcometm3: he gives the best description and pictures) up to $499. It is unbelievable how much better they mack the front end look. I have to come off some of my money and get in on this and get a new grill too. Car needs a facelift. But they look great dude and keep us posted!
Dare I ask when they will get to the tail lights to match, possibly correcting the taillight issues at the same time for those of us with post 2000 models. Perhaps to much to ask as of yet or maybe I could just get a set of those smoked out ones.

I'll have the final pricing soon. You probably have halogen headlamps currently if you don't have the stock HID's. HID's are much brighter and whiter then the stockers, I don't even like driving without them anymore. They are relatively easy to hook up as long as you're not a complete idiot when it comes to car stuff, common sense in my opinion, didn't even glance at the instructions and took me less than 1 hour.
I think the price's will be around $270 shipped for the plain halogen's, $440 shipped for the Full HID kit, and most likely somewhere in-between if you just need the H4 bulbs for you're existing aftermarket HID kit. Shipping on these is pricey because the box is quite big, and they are pretty heavy...actual price on the shipping is about $30 for the US. I just caught myself staring at my car again...damn it looks good
Main point of this early posting was to allow people to get into some sort of waiting list, they're are only about 30 sets available right now, and I can't imagine anyone who owns an SLK to not want these lights...
Same seller that is on ebay, but he's willing to give us better pricing without going through all the ebay fuss and going directly through him, they are super nice guys by the way!
I wonder if it is the same people I questioned myself about them the other day. I have been staring at your car too and it does look damn good! Which seller is is exactly if you can tell so I can look at the post they have up and decided better what I am getting into. Thanks for being the tester. If I have a bit more knowledge I would have done it myself.
$30 shipping doesnt seem that bad though because I bet they are heavy. I dont know if that extra amount of money is worth the HID. Like I said I dont even know exactly what I have. How can I know for sure? Is there an easy way to tell.
Yup, item number 170039600175 is the same exact kit that I got above, but from a different seller in the US, not Taiwan You're looking at $330 shipped for that set as well. Hopefully we can save a few bucks here, not to mention avoid having to deal with a vendor over seas...
I've personally never seen the Stock HID setup, mine came with the Halogens when I bought it and I converted over. I have no idea what would be involved with putting the stock HID's into these housings, it may not be possible. My HID kit was purchased off of Ebay as well for around $150 shipped I think...So $440 for a complete kit shipped isn't too shabby in my book, I would have gone that route if I didn't already buy a different HID kit.
Once I get final pricing posted, and people up on the list, I'll PM you with the sellers contact info so you can purchase them directly through them, either using you're credit card or paypal I think...still waiting on the final word.
Oh yes, and I am in no way affiliated with this seller, just trying to help all of you out on the forum here, I've been helped out in the past many times with this type of stuff and just figured it was my turn to pitch in a little effort!!
Sweet. I may as well put my name on the list. The high beam and low beam features work fine? And if it is that same item number, what is the parking light feature and how is it used? Seems different but intriguing.
I'm choosing not to hook up the high beam, mainly because I'm using HID's, there is really no need for more light then these things put out, they are BRIGHT! I also left the bulbs out of the parking light function, for now at least, just sticking with the clean look
This list is just to help keep us organized, in no way are you locked in to buying anything just because you're on the list, its just the people I'll give the sellers contact info too, plus, we need a bunch of people signed up to get that group buy pricing.

But you can use a high beam with the HID? Im being blinded by all the vehicles with higher frames and damnit if I dont want revenge. That way i can blind them right back when they dont turn off their high beams when heading toward me, lots of fools in my area. How have you seen that the parking feature makes it slightly unclean, just the bulbs being a non-chrome type? Sorry to be such a pain but I figure that if I ask the dumb questions its that many less questions others need to ask.
