Brought my 99 slk 230 to the dealer to get the tail lights working and a battery changed. They got the work done but now all the lights remain on even when the car is off! Any one had a similar issue?
Were they replacing the tail light assemblies as part of the recall? Your symptoms seem strange for just a battery change and light assemblies. I don't know what could cause that.
Actually only the head lights stay on.
The tail lights will be changed on tuesday under the recall after a lot of bitching.
All they did was replace the brake lamp switch and the battery!
Final chapter to this story. Had to go down to the dealer myself seeing as I got contradicting info from the service departement.
Here is the story straight from the mecanic. It was the taillights that stay constantly on. No head lights! Basically there was a short in the taillights.
How was that corrected? 2 new tail lights! After stating the recall fact they were replaced free of charge hopefully with the new parts though! I had to change the brake lamp switch which I am convinced was fried with the short.
At lease I will be ok for a while.
