Unhappy Need a knob for my AC/Heater Fan Control

Had an intermittent light, pulled the knob off and the plastic part that reaches inside to control the fan speed broke. If anyone has a spare and want to get rid of it PM me. I'll go to the dealer if needed, but thought I would check here first.

Any pointers on removing the knob? I have a bad bulb that I would like to replace.

Just checked my W202 manual which looks to have identical setup

to get to globes - looks like the front panel comes off first and then control panel is pulled out complete - no mention of knobs being pulled off ( or needing to)

Looks like globes would slip in the back

I can post or email the page if you havent got it figured out

A post or email would be great. I was hoping it was as easy as removing a knob, but figured it was more like you describe.

Pull knob off

Early models have globe open to you, use a bit of plastic tube to remove, later ones a have a plastic shield in front that must be carefully moved to one side to expose globe.

I have a spare knob here in OZ

Bazzle's nailed it! - the W202 book doesn't mention this.

Bazzle, thanks. Pulled the knob off. The pictures were great. Just have to find some plastic tubing to get the globe out now.

I got mine from a dealer when it happened to me cost a few pounds $3-$4 I would guess. Even a dealer has limits to how much they can cane your wallet.

You might want to try sticking small pieces of rubber to tips of needle noise pliers, I found it worked best as the bulb/globe gets too tight for the tube to pull-out. Just don’t crush to hard or you can break the bulb/globe, I did on one but was able to pull on the filament to get it out. ...... A little white grease on the gear/cogs and spring loaded pawl in the knob makes the operation feel much smother!!!
