I am about to purchase an aftermarket HID kit in about an hour. I just wanted to know if the package says plug and play..is it really "plug and play"? Will i have any type of problems of power current or anything? Or is it simply plug the unit in and I'm ready to roll?
The ones I did were. Just used the original connectors for the H7s.
Not rocket science.

So do you know if there is a difference between 1998 and a 2001 SLK? I have an 01 and just want to make sure the car has enough current to start up the ballast...
I used the Carlab kit, $260 forum special on my C230 and they work great. May do it on the SLK when I have time. www.carlabms.com. You just plug the box to the bulb harness, put the bulb in place, find a way to secure the box and you are done. They come in different temps, I believe the factory is something like 4300K and I got the 6000K and 8000K is their bluest.
Since we're talking about HID's can I ask a question?
I just try installing a Ebay kit today and I can't get the right (passenger) side to work. After playing with the supposedly simple plug n play wiring for like an hour I was only able to get the left (Driver) side to work. The reason I couldn't get it to work at first is because I wired the +/- backwards. oops. Before I get bashed let me explain. There's two wires from the kit that needed to be connected to the stock harness, a black and a blue. (instructions said red + / black -) Yeah WTF. So I figure black is - and blue is +. I was wrong. So now I'm not getting any power (+) coming out of the right stock wiring harness. Has this happen to anyone and what did you do to fix it? Also curious is there a seperate fuse for the left and right headlight? oh, the highbeam works on both side.
I did and one was burnt, changed it and still no power. Is there a list of what fuse is for what somewhere in the forum? My list is missing and didn't see one in the owners manual.
