Thanks for the swift reply Oberoi.

Yeah, I suspect my colour may not be loaded the same as all the US ones. My car came out of Singapore and is a Jan '97 SLK 200. They may not have standardised the colours, who knows?? I was actually quite surpised to get a get on my VIN on that Russian site.

Anyways, I'll bounce you an email and we'll take it from there...

Ciao, Carl.

Ciao, Carl.
Carl, posting this for general information - have replied by email.

Looks like your 'Scarlet leather' is not the same colour as 'Salsa Red' -- highlights the importance of checking thru' the MB Russia site -- There are US models with Scarlet Leather also.

Getting a colour match done soon and keeping your order on file - will advise.

Any other members who think they have Salsa red should check the MB Russia site (posted earlier in this thread) to make sure it isn't Scarlet 227

Hi Bruce,
I just wanted to thank you! The paint arrived today, and I'm chomping at the bit to give it a try. I really appreciate all of your efforts.

For those new to the post, I'm not ordering colours in on spec but only ordering when there are enough requests.

Send me an email after you have established your colour by going on to www.mbclub.ru/mb/vin/index.html?lng=eng and I will reply immediately

I think I need to get a real job!!
Bruce, paint arrived today and I hope to get started tomorrow on my touch-up. Looking at what the postage cost you versus what I sent you, this is the best deal around. I know you are not making money on this so I have to say you are very generous to us with your time. I'll report back to you after I have completed the job. Thanks again. Wes

Received paint

Thanks again for going the extra (few thousand) miles. I received the package yesterday and will be finally sprucing up my console this weekend. If you are ever in Santa Barbara, CA drinks are on me!

Bruce,
I finished the job today following your directions with some modifications and it looks great. The color was right on and I didn't have to use the additive to tone down the gloss. I used a ladies emery board for sanding the flakes and holes, a soft artist brush as you suggested, and a small (1") felt painter's pad with a long narrow handle for blotting the whole console after I was done. I don't know what the shelf life may be of the paint but I have plenty left to do it several times more if the need arises. Many thanks to you for solving this problem for me.

Thanks Wes - good to know how it came out. Amazing how careful you become after a touch up!!

Shelf life according to Viponds is 7 yrs in unopened can.

If stored in airtight container after use with minimal air, Viponds reckon up to 5 yrs probably OK. Lots of variables tho'.

got the same problem

Hi Oberoi, I would really appreciate some of this paint also, if you can send to the uk. I have checked my VIn on the site advised and it says I have leather sand & quartz (225). My centre console is quite badly scratched, so would require a big can if possible. Please advise if you can help.
