Chris64,
Thanks for confirming the colour match for the red console. That means I don't have to bother with cross-referencing colour codes. Much appreciated! Thanks again to Bruce A for the solution.
Lance, - don't forget there are 2 red colours before ordering
Bruce,
Thanks for that. I was unaware. I have just received an email reply from Alan Vipond. He has all the colour names/codes for SLK trim and gave a link so I could identify my trim colour using my VIN. Very helpful! Thankfully, He does ship internationally (to Japan). I will be ordering some paint and touching up my SLK. Thanks again!
Cheers,
Lance

I just wanted to say that I am very pleased to have joined this forum today. Most impressive is the longevity of this thread on interior paint peeling. It started August 13, 2006 and is still alive today, over three years and 442 posts later. I also have a problem with the paint peeling on the grab handles of my '02 SLK 320. I was able to get all the specs from the Russian site that someone so kindly posted and I have also emailed the Viponds to see if they will ship to Canada. My sincere thanks to Oberoi for his splendid effort on our behalf. What does concern me however, is that from the many posts it would appear that the issue of interior paint peeling started in the 1998 model year and continued for five years until 2003. How is it that Mercedes Benz did not address this issue earlier? My research has shown that the SLK 320's were built in South Africa and not Germany. Is this true?
My 21K mile 03 320 has no interior paint issues at all. (Saying this with fingers crossed......) Did Merc sort the dodgy interior paint out for the 03 model year?? Or is my car potentially just as cruddy in this respect as all of the earlier cars and it's something I'm gonna have to keep my eye on?
Just finished the upper console area radio/climate surround , Tired an airbrush and found it to be the best way to apply .The Tuatflex paint airbrushes nicely. Did not thin , used straight with perfect results. Very minium of masking required.

That's great information vf,
Could you post pics or details of the unit you used ?
(Viponds make a spray version but would require a complete rematching of all the colours and more difficult to transport.)
They do not recommend thinning the Tautflex by much.
I just received my revival kit yesterday and am really looking foward to this project. Quick question though.. I have the two tone seats Siam and Black has anyone used it on their seats?? Just wondering if it would cause a prioblem because of the heated seats?? Not sure so I thought I ask the experts you have guided me well thus far.
Figured I would do the whole inside at the same time for a nice interior face lift... Will await your replies.

I have a 2001 SLK and according to the Russian VIN site the interior should be quartz+siam beige. Purchased siam beige spray form Volico.de and it is darker than original interior. Checked a couple U.S. wedsite writeups on 2001 SLK and they show the interior as Charcoal and Sienna Beige.
HELP: Does anyone know if sienna beige is lighter than siam?
