Paint Peeling

I have been reading the various posts on peeling paint. I need to use this paint on my console. The color I need is scarlet 227. can anybody tell me which is the best - Viponds or Volica, I know one is brush and the other is spray. Do you have to use a primer, top coat and lacquer for the vinyl, or is that for just the leather, and only use the top coat for vinyl.
Thanks Chris

Here's a copy of earlier info posted (pics on post 408)- you don't have to prime the surface other than to be scrupulously clean after cleaning off with detergent and then alcohol. The brush/wipe on Viponds is useful if you want to paint in situ and don't want to remove your panels. - One application - no top coat.

As far as I know, you can't get it in the USA which is why we took the trouble to match all the panels when we found a source in Australia - 200mls is enough to do the whole lot twice. (note, - there are 2 different reds - scarlet and crimson)

Volico are now also supplying ex Germany in cans

All the info is in the preceding posts

I have bought mine from this guy in Germany that sells it on EBAY. Here is a link for the Scarlet Red.

Mercedes SLK R 170 Leather+Interior paint scarletred:eBay Motors (item 200362029100 end time Aug-10-09 15:25:46 PDT)

The bottle seems small, but it goes a long way.

Thanks for that information, it must paint on from the bottle, not spray. It's just that I was lead to believe that Volico was a spray and Viponds was painted with a brush. The one I want is the paint on one, not the spray as I would have to take all the consol out.

Anthracite 221<=> Charcoal Leather 211 ??

My 2002 SLK 320 US Specification lists the interior color as Charcoal Leather 211 (listed on the original window sticker). I have contacted Viponds and they have Anthracite 221. There is much chatter about 221 in this thread but I did not find a dierect link to Charcoal 211.

I have looked up the color code on the Russian Site--a very useful resource--and it list my interior color as Anthracite 211.

This paint is for the driver's side door pull00it has some very light grey specks peeking through--everything elese is fine--sorry to ramble.

The question is--Is antracite 221 the dark, almost black color, correct based on the information I have provided.

Do not find the price of $45.00 USD for 8 onces out of line--I have paid a lot more a good brandy. Just want to make sure the color I order is correct.

Thanks in advance.

2 points here:

(1) The code number relates to the 'combination' of the leather trim on the seat/st. wheel and the console so you could have 2 nos. involving anthracite

(2) I would go by the russian MB inf more than the local dealer name for the colour - anthracite looks to be the colour you need even though the combination no. does not equate. (to answer your question, anthracite is almost black)
There is are 2 pics of the anthracite paint if you go back to page 13 -permalink 122 (bear in mind that this was before the colour was properly matched to an actual panel [as against a miniscule paint chip] - the finish was intentionally made more glossy than OEM

My sienna beige is called 'sand' by MB and even 'oyster' in some countries which was initially very confusing

Salsa red/magma red is in common use but called 'crimson'and 'scarlet' by MB -- 'Charcoal' is similarly confusing

All thanks and praise to the Paint Guru--oberoi!

Antracite is my charcoal. In the next set of picutes: reverse the color of the door pull and the dark spots and it matches mine to a "T".

I will be contacting Viponds directly to place an order and then I must find how to use PayPal--I know--how have I survived this long with only a credit card?

Thanks to you, oberoi. And thanks to all the members of this most outstanding forum.
