Thank you.

I just emailed Vipond and hope to get the paint from them.

Great forum! Thanks!

New to this community

I am new to this community and want to see if I could purchase some interior grey paint [leather sand+quartz (225)] from someone in the US who has some to spare. Thanks.

I read through the post and have e-mailed Viponds to get the order. Does the new paint chip as easily as the old? Which is better to strip or not to strip. I'm talking about the car interior paint of course.

Mondria blue

Bonjour Sun Valley --Just logged in from the Dordogne in France -I want to live here!!!!

Mondria blue has been matched by Viponds recently and is a perfect match

Contact Alan Vipond on alan@viponds.com.au

They will send you a fact sheet and 200mls of the Benz paint

Go back 1 or 2 pages to see the Mondria blue panel match or a few more pages to get info on how to apply paint/prepare surface etc.

The paint is the same as Benz use so is similarly 'chippable' but easily fixed.

If you are anything like me, you learn to be pretty careful with your interior after the first fix

If you just have the chipping on the top surfaces/under handbrake and ign. stripping is not necessary. You can get to all of the console by moving the seat.

use wet and dry paper (600 grit or finer) and wet rub the edges of the peeled bits - then clean with prepsol /detergent - wash off and finally wipe down with alcohol/methylated spirits -- do not touch any further

touch up peeled bits with small brush a couple of times and then wipe the whole console or at least the top surfaces with paint on a lint free cloth - it will look like new

Clean prep is the secret to keeping it on - I don't think the orig Benz prep was too good

Would anyone suggest using a clear coat on the console and inside door handles after the touch-up paint have been applied? Has anyone tried this? Any info will be appreciated.

Not automotive clearcoat as it will bubble off - the console paint is a water/glycol based paint and will not take any petroleum based solvents

You could ask Viponds if they have a waterbased clearcoat but do not think it would be any tougher than colour coat -- you may also stuff up the sheen and end up with a more glossy console ????

Wow what a long thread. Good info just don't have the time. Couple quick questions.

I e-mailed Viponds to place an order for black. Is that still correct?

Where do I find a primer for these parts?
