Question SLK 230 running rough when cold

My 2002 SLK230 has been difficult to start and doesn't run well for the first few minutes. I had the B service done less than 1000 miles ago just before it went out of warranty. Any ideas what is causing this???

I dont really buy that because it didn't do it before the B service. Last night I had to crank it foralmost a minute before it would start.

Do you have a manual or auto transmission? The auto takes a bit longer to settle down than the manual. I have a manual and rarely have any kind of roughness at cold start. Occasionally it will stumble for 3 or 5 seconds and when it does, gentle pressure on the gas peddle helps. The only time I had a more severe roughness was traced to a tank of gasoline. Since then I only buy from gas stations that are on main roads and turn over the 93 octane quickly. B service is basically an oil change and inspection. Check under the hood to see if hose, etc. loose.

What is the milage on the vehicle? Spark plugs are a possible culprit.

Mine is noisy at the first minute of cold start

My 2004 SLK 230 SE Komp. does the same thing. It has a very "rough" sound when you first start-up. As I let it "warm-up", after about a minute it idles VERY nice. To me it almost sounds like a diesel when it first starts.

With the other MB that I owned (C230), it had none of the attributes of the SLK.

If it was OK before the service and you think MB caused the change ask what they removed or replaced. Check those items 1st.

same for me this morning. it was 9deg. Fahrenheit. it sounded like a diesel....clackity clack clack! (though i love diesel) also when i put it in reverse, i feel a vibration. i wonder if that the sign of coil packs going bad. I'm going to test it his weekend. does anyone know the proper procedure for testing the coil packs? i also have an appointment scheduled with the local dealership to do the first transmission service. I'm wondering if that has to do anything.....

mine idles a little rough for about 1 or 2 minutes on startup, im thinking check valve feeds supercharger air to heat up cat converter and o2 sensors for emissions passage, runs great after that, so who cares, let it warm up and enjoy!

Yes my slk acts like that. normaly i only drive it at weekend, so many days stoped at garage. Normaly on startup it is a little rough, and sometimes i can identify some diferent noise, like gaz pression, maybe from fuel pump... normaly before engine startup..it is normal?

heres the weird thing, on mine 99 slk 230 stick, it will barely start and run rough as hell if i drive it daily. if i let it sit for 1-10 weeks without any running, it will start and purr like a kitten right off the trigger. this doesnt make any sense but it has become a pattern as i go through phases of daily driving and hardly ever driving it.
