Am I reading the TSB correctly in that it should take 2.8 hrs to diagnose, replace and relocate the PSE? http://www.alldata.com/tsb/Mercedes-...00-25/251.html
Dealer was 5 hrs + parts for a total of $1300. Something doesn't feel right about that not to mention there's a TSB on the issue.

RE: TSB for PSE
If they are relocating it, they need to turn the unit upside down and the likes may not be long enough so there will be more parts needed.

When I pulled out my PSE to put it in a plastic bag, I checked to see if I could turn it over so the electrics are on top. No way! The electric lines and pneumatic lines are way to short, I could barely pull it out enough to get it in the bag. If they are going to relocate it (turn it over) they will have to do some work on the lines. I wonder if MB makes a kit to do the relocation? Someone should ask a dealer and get a part number if there is such a kit. I would be willing to do the relocation myself to prevent trouble down the road. I think someone on this forum said that the 2003's and later came from the factory with the PSE "relocated" although I'm not sure if it was a midyear change.
According to the TSB the part to repair the wiring harness is A1705403509 along with several color coded connectors and a new foam piece. Nothing mentioned about vacuum line parts. Maybe the new foam lifts it higher so the vacuum lines will reach. Found harness listed on trademotion for $151 USD but no illustration to see if this is a longer harness. TSB says after Sept 2002 are installed 180 deg from factory but I haven't heard anyone on the forum say theirs is mounted upside down or right side up. I think the whole PSE idea in the trunk is just wrong in so may ways.
TSB also refers to WIS document AR20.80-P-2710G. Can anyone tell us what that doc says?
Sorry, I didn't see page 2 of the TSB. Maybe the "Raychem" connectors and 2 pieces of hose listed in the parts required list are to lengthen the pneumatic lines? Someone on this forum had indicated that their PSE was installed with the hoses and wires on the bottom ("relocated") and I think it was a newer model, 2003 or 2004.
SLKSport,
Thanks ++++ - this is great stuff - it seems to fit right in with my intermittent alarm indications, in the thread I started the other day. My serial number is within the range quoted, and assuming it is really endorsed by Benz Canada, I think I'll have a nice chat with the service manager - I still have three months of full warranty left, before the extended kicks in. If they agree to cover it, and I can see the list of parts and/or labour involved, I'll let you know. I may delay the service for a week or two until it's convenient to leave the car, however, and they will likely have to inspect before they'll consider ordering parts, so it may be a while.
I found WIS AR80.20-P-2710G, and it's about turning the PSE 180 degrees. If someone can tell me how to attach the two images, I'll gladly post it. However, it references about 8 more bulletins in turn, so it may not be the definitive answer for you.
