Kuda Phone/PDA Mount

Below is a pic of the Kuda mount with PDA holder I installed Sunday in the SLK. Finally gives me a good place to see the GPS without the suction cup mount on the winshield. I modified the Garmin holder a bit so it would fit inside the PDA mount so I could still have the speaker and 12v power to it. The wire is tucked away on the other side, but eventually I'll hard wire it.

RE: Kuda Phone/PDA Mount

I have a PDA mount that mounts up to pretty much anything, winshield, dash, etc. My question is looking at your install it appears your mount will get in the way of your passenger. Has anyone sat in the passenger seat since the install?

Yes, a friend has, and he is quite large. The mount curves over to the driver's side, so it really does not interfere with the passenger. But I suppose someone really large could have a minor issue.

RE: Kuda Phone/PDA Mount

Has anyone used one of these PDA mounts for a while and then removed it?? Part of the idea of these mounts is to protect the interior from screw holes associated with other mounts so you can remove it and sell your slk in perfect condition. I'm just wondering how the rubberized paint on the center console holds up with the mount in place over it possibly rubbing it over time. I got mine cheap off ebay but havent installed it yet for this reason.

As I already have some flaking on my console that I have touched up, I'm not going to stress over possibly some more. That said, in experimenting with mounting I did discover that there is a "perfect fit" position that when the screw on the clamp is tightened, it will not move at all. That said, if you are concerned, I wouldn't mount it until you have an answer to you question above. You do raise a valid point.
