You can either reply to this by e-mail or here on the board.<br> <br> I have a couple of Q's...<br> <br> 1) How do you add (?) carbon fiber to surfaces?<br> 2) If I want my CLK's wood panels carbon fiber, what's the best way to do it?<br> 3) If I were to get a whole new set of interior panels, can I do something to it to make it all carbon fiber (not the laminate ones...real fibers)?<br> <br> Thanks.
1. Make a mold/pattern of what you want to make (if you want to cover your wood, I don't think you have to do this)<br> 2. Get carbon fiber (it's like cloth before resin is applied)<br> 3. Cover the mold with C/F, then cover it with resin. Let it dry.<br> 4. I believe he sands each layer and repeats. (helps to keep it smooth)<br> 5. Finally, wet sand with very fine sandpaper.<br> <br> It's quite a bit of work, but looks great.<br> <br> If you still want to know, I can ask my friend for more details.
1) You 'laminate' or epoxy the stuff over a substrate (donor piece) and then clearcoat and polish it. I don't do the laminating myself. My friend Thomas at FeatherCarbon does. He can be reached by emailing: queenjr@mindspring.com<br> <br> Just about any hard, non-intricate surface can be laminated with CF. Thomas does nice work and has filled several strange requests of mine.<br> <br> 2) Start out with a good, high quality, cover-up kit like those at Torasport.com . After that, just begin to customize piece by piece like I did. You can aquire things like steering wheels availible from several sources, or do your own thing with door handles, moldings, whatever by sending them to Thomas.<br> <br> 3) What you are suggesting would be cost prohibitive. Laminating any piece is cheaper and you would never be able to tell the difference between something laminated, or completely made of CF. Don't misunderstand, laminates are real carbon fiber as well. They look exactly alike.<br> <br> I know you guys have seen these pics a million times, (sorry, this may take a while to download) but here is some of the work Thomas has done for me:<br> <br> <IMG SRC='http://www.msnusers.com/_Secure/0RgDjbewXx1ectvEcmy0JnssJPW**BKbZ8tX!nyZ6gQpLFjkVN9JpEfkSz4xdQWI3pVuRQH*R4PpinbWwGUHG9FARy8ORfE6EsBf1xjB8VWk/carbonknobclose01.jpg'><br> <br> <IMG SRC='http://www.msnusers.com/_Secure/0RgDNYo0Xm0WctvEcmy0JnssJPW**BKbZlozRbgfR1AzUADHFYXnXyDUwLp8SDCd90AlqSXst9jDhZ1GAYu9ZlgpuyoM6pjAVjHpxGupQMGo/carbonknobclose02.JPG'><br> <br> <IMG SRC='http://www.msnusers.com/_Secure/0RABlLrAWwwqctvEcmy0JnmVxYBPSuJ6yJGjpnsNfQ0MXV4Vkg9HUl6rr8d3n69wGKQABsAj!*vc3iw2RpQHNCxWiB3RHkWiKeId3rxGpFGY/carbonknobfar02.JPG'><br> <br> <IMG SRC='http://www.msnusers.com/_Secure/0QwA68QgWAt*lf3sxt0pLxPZWHfhtRb51aqBcnOt1b!WJXMBTDhUvpr1SmCLr3cmlZ50qvivGeZJKtlMGM*4O0jmPJavTwrC*sQFoSqJp01g/CFlicenselip01.JPG'><br> <br> <IMG SRC='http://www.msnusers.com/_Secure/0RQAAANMWkhQDVaoJX0hqEBoDiIFSMWpXMXGK3CiASrQb0oDQdNiVnRrMJbZhnzENW2R4HUjFcD5ytzjEknnakMXbD08pY6ipScaf31J!4IQ/CFshot3qtrrear02.JPG'><br> <br> <IMG SRC='http://www.msnusers.com/_Secure/0RABc1bMWmAnn0n6PCGTVRz1NQiXWvxbkKSOSgGx0BNM5YU0GSO!GghdxeCuKSlPEgJ2EzHcLo!kayWjEFJ4!D*7R8dLwW08LkD2E3muDo*g/CFwingsupport02.JPG'><br> <br> <IMG SRC='http://www.msnusers.com/_Secure/0RAA48RIXxBvn0n6PCGTVRz1NQiXWvxbk6IJp50Ni*jaT396XKdEXOPMRV2EUgK3hV0jVZ7*SG0A*uhH2gmo9UcRRX7viG3eY5RHnBAt0Fgw/CFwingsupport01.jpg'><br> <br> I also do some work with adhesive backed carbon fiber plate I get from Torasport.
