Hardwire Valentine one Instructions PICS

I thought I would start the post.... now In about 1 hour I am going to begin to hard wire my Valentine one radar detector into my slk. I am going to take step by step pics and show what I did. I am going to run it from the wire going to the cig lighter up and round the car to just under the rear view mirror. I have checked my voltage and my cig lighter is not active when the car is off so it will not drain my battery. Expect pics throught the night me ripping appart my interior is gonna be a neat trick lol.

RE: Hardwire Valentine one Instructions PICS

ok so I forgot the cable to transfer the pics the hardwire is done took me like 4 hours because im a slow anal worker but I ended up putting it just left of my rear view mirror. Despite the instructions from the slk cd there are extra screws and plastic holders on the overhead display when I removed it I broke 2 of them and had to go to homedepot and get superglue. its all hidden so it doesnt matter. I ran the wire left down the arm to the fuse box just left of the stearing wheel. There is an AUX red 12v wire there that I tapped into and drilled a hole next to the other grounding wire to ground my unit.

All works well and I took a black sharpe pen and colored the outside of the sucktion cup on the v1 and put it so high up it can pickup signals behind me and still get everything in front. It is just under the window heater black shit on my windshield. from the outside you can barely see it and its perfect view inside.

I am happy with the install just a lot of work because I had never ripped my car appart. DONT LISTEN TO THAT FUCKING CD IT IS FOR AN OOOOOLLLLDDD Ass slk and they have added a lot of shit to the car since then.

RE: Hardwire Valentine one Instructions PICS

I just received my radar detector in the mail 4 hours ago! I am so psyched and I told you Deathy I was getting it so please post those pics. My hardwire cable should come any day now so I can't wait to install it myself. I didn't end up going with the valentine 1 because all the recent reviews had the Passport Escort 8500 X50 on top so I went with that one [:D] Well anyways I'm curious to see how you installed it, and so far I love it and its's working great. I will post pics as well over the weekend on the install.

O NO! no one knew that in the next few weeks Valentine one is releasing a software flash to update all the units...... gonna be all ready to fend off the POP radar.

I will post pics I even can help you tear appart your interior without breaking it..... Also I know where there is a good aux wire to patch the direct power into.

Let me run out to my car and take some specific pics and post em for you. When are you planning on doing this can i call you?

RE: Hardwire Valentine one Instructions PICS

here are the pics PAY ATTENTION the 2 red wires I used a volt meter and found the one that was for auxo and not live when the car was off. It was the light red one. the dark red was also a 12 v but was live all the time I didnt wanna drain my battery all the time.

post any questions I will help you. I didnt use the valentine patch in unit I hard wired it to the 12v wire. better connection that way.

RE: Hardwire Valentine one Instructions PICS

Wow, sick install. Ya I will probably contact you within the next few days I just have not received the direct wire cord yet. How do you like your valentine so far? For me, the past two days have been amazingly fast driving [:D] Also, should I be afraid if I get a K warning, so far I have received a few x band warnings and a few K band warnings, but no Ka bands. I want to know if K warnings are even important or not? Let me know, thanks Deathy, I appreciate the good pics and documentation. It certainly will help me tremendously when I install mine.

RE: Hardwire Valentine one Instructions PICS

Ka, L, and POP you need to slam on the brakes and get over fast lol. K, and X ban are still used in older areas but city based police officers have new equiptment. I usually set mine to a high filter setting and wait for the signal noise. there are beeps and buzzes. The buzzes are a solid signal the beeps are potential signals. I filter most of them out. You will get use to driving with it and hearing what things sound like. You will be able to start pin pointing cops. If anything it made me a better driver because I actually go slower because im dodging signals all day lol. I know every day the car wash on the left of the 101 freeway will hit me with a L band right as I cross tatum ha ha. that kinda shit.
