Can't wait to see and drive the new 2005. Looks great and I actually like the interior. I won't be looking for a new car for a year or so, but I'll definately look at the car. Also, I never buy a car unless it is readily available without paying a dealer premium.
Well, dealer called Saturday morning, when I was on my way to work so I went by and looked and drove.
I was...disappointed...
The outside of course, was awesome, but the inside...bleah! This car did not have the interior upgrade package, maybe that will make the difference, but I was disappointed beyond belief. I wasn't going to buy it, but I asked what he wanted anyway, he came back with $29,600. I was "ok.", but inside I said WTF!? $29k for a Mustang, with no interior upgrade, you've got to be kidding me.
I told him to keep my $500 and find me one with an interior upgrade package, but it really looks like Ford dropped the ball on this one.
The standard interior is crap. The cigarrette adapter is in the middle of the console, so for my cell phone charger there would be this cable dropping down through the middle of the console. Lame.
It only had 235/55 tires too, kind of odd for all that power, the stock GT Mustang before had 245/45s...The higher profile made it look more retro, but didn't make sense in a modern world.
Oh well...maybe I'll buy one on clearance at the end of a year, but pretty much no way now.
I haven't even seen the car in person yet, but I agree that the interior upgrade is a must have. I don't like the looks of the two tone interior, but that's just personal taste. Ford's color-configurable instrument cluster lighting is kind of cool touch.
