I'll replace the SLK32 within the next 2 years. I wagon would suit my needs perfectly, but I sure would miss having a cabrio. A few cars I'm considering are

Mercedes GST (only if they make an AMG version)
Dodge Magnum SRT-8 (only with 6.1L Hemi V8, 425hp)
BMW M3 Cabrio (only with V8).

I'm not thrilled with the looks of any of them, but they all have appeal. I would guess the GST will get either the AMG 5.5L Kompressor or the rumored 6.3L. Either would be fine with me.

i don't see any purpose for this vehicle UNLESS:

it is offered with a diesel. I know, I'm a diesel fanboy, but 32mpg with a lot of utility would be very appealing to me.

I like it, have not found it ugly yet. But I saw R171 running in DC area the other day, and somewhat felt I was far from liking that one. I'd rather save $$ for a new or a new used SL.
