scratched rims

Just had new tires put on my AMG rims. They scratched and dented the edges next to the tire at several places around each rim. Any suggestions or comments appreciated.

RE: scratched rims

Go back to the company that put the tires on and demand that they fix the rims or replace them.

RE: scratched rims

I had the same problem happen when I needed a flat repaired and the local tire shop had trouble getting the tire mounted back on. They sent it to their wheel polishing place and it came back even worse.

The manager looked like a sad little puppy when he handed me the new AMG wheel and suggested I take it to the dealer because he didn't want to ruin another wheel. I would have felt bad for him had it not been for the run around I got trying to get the issue resolved.

RE: scratched rims

Worst case? Find another tire shop and have them dismount the wheels, and have the wheels powder coated. Be sure to ask them to document the original location of each tire, and

OK so you'll have your car on blocks or jack stands for a week; I just did this for one of my cars, and the powder coating is so thick that it filled in the curb rash, and misc. scratches - plus I updated the look of the car by changing the color. I love the new look!!!!

The wheels on my SLK were abused by the prior owner - I'm waiting for weather not as great as it is now, and deciding on a new color.

How much did it all cost and what color did you switch to? Are they 230 or 320 wheels?

Post a picture so we can all see them![:)]

RE: scratched rims

For all types of wheel repair, including dents, curb rash, chipped finish, etc, go to Wheels America

They fix any rim for a flat fee of $129. They are used widely, are fast, and have a good reputation.

RE: scratched rims

I had a similar problem with NTB on my previous car. They accepted responsibility but it took a number of calls over a 3 month period to finally get the new wheels. On the positive side on top of ending up with 4 new wheels they failed to keep the old wheels like they said they were going to do. I told them both when I dropped the car off to keep the old wheels and when I was leaving. They had the old ones in the back of the car. I kept them for 4 months before I sold them on Ebay.
