rear view mirror

How can I tell if the rearview mirror is switching to "night mode"? It does not seem to be

RE: rear view mirror

Usually, the passenger side mirror is not an autodim mirror. So you can use that one as the reference point. During day time, all mirrors should look quite similar to you. At night, the mirror w/ autodim should be substantially darker.
Mine is not 100% working so don't trust me too much [:)]

There are two sensors on the mirror....................

one in front, one in back. They are located directly opposite of each other. The one inside the car (front) should be fairly obvious, feel for the one in back. With the ignition key in run mode, cover the one in back with your finger leaving the one in front open to ambient light. The sensors should "see" glare and darken the mirrors. If you then cover the cabin side sensor the "glare" goes away and the mirror should lighten.
You should be able to see the color change fairly quickly on the driver's side and cabin rear view mirrors.
The above is most easily done in full daylight.....[;)]

RE: rear view mirror

Thanks I'll try that today. I only have 60 days of warranty left so I'm checking lots of "little"(i.e. expensive) things for proper operation.
