I have a '99 SLK 230, yellow with charcoal interior. It's got a plastic automatic gear knob (see below). I'd like to replace it with a stock leather knob from the newer models. Can anyone tell me what it should look like for a charcoal interior? The ones I saw in the dealer's display case had different colours, and none of them had the star emblazoned on top. The black one had a red top. If I remember correctly, they cost around $70 CDN. Thanks!
Anyone know if the new knobs fit on the old models? Like the one above. Trying to get a new knob, but I want something original that fits the stick without modification. The knobs from for my mercedes . com, do they fit right on and perfectly?
I'm doing the same, but how does the knob come off? I tried unscrewing
it. I don't want to screw it up, any advice will be appreciated.
Thanks, TommyMac
TommyMac: don't twist it! On the bottom there is a lock that you screw half way around. Then just pull. Don't use force.
Does the new gear knobs fit the stick on the 96-2000 mod? And the sticks from for my mercedes . com do they fit right on and as good as the original? Anyone have picture of a knob from this site, that is mounted?
