I have a question for those that have increased the performance of their 32's. How do you maintain traction in 1st? My 32 is still stock and I can feel the rear begin to loose traction at the top of first (not to mention off the line). Granted I still have the crappy stock Conti tires.
RE: You can't under full throttle, you have to be better a part throttle...
I think the car is more difficult to launch now. If you had a 200+ lbs person in the passenger seat it will help. Tire temperature also makes a bigger difference. The improvement will be best noticed after the car is already moving.
Get some Nitto drag radials - they DO make for an excellent everyday tire, just use common sense when it's wet out. Not an SLK32, but my previous car was pretty healthy in the hp dept., it ran consistent mid 12's at right around 117mph trap speeds in the quarter mile. I used the Nitto's as a daily tire for 4 years (not the same set obviously [] )on the car and found them to be FAR FAR better for dry traction than any other tire I've ever used. Then when I'd go to the track, I'd just air 'em down and run 'em all day there (getting 1.8 and 1.9 sixty foot times). Of course they wear quicker than regular tires (I'd get about 12k miles out of a set) but if you wanna play, you gotta pay! []
....Goodyear F1 GS-D3's and slippage has been very minimal during power launches as compared to previous Michelin Sports.
Much less road noise, more comfort, no tramlining on freeways, improved dry/wet handling for a less expensive price than either Michelin or Bridgestone, these German-made Goodyears are great! []
Yes the fenders are rolled, I didn't do it myself, got the car used like that. I'm running 18 x 9.5 in the rear with 265/35 and 18 x 8.5 in the front with 235/40 rubber.
