Tirerack says that the lip of the split spoke AMG rims in machined? What does that mean?

From my experience, the lip is simply painted like the rest of the wheel. Is it possible that the wheels from Tirerack are different than the wheels delivered on the 32?

Usually it means its shiney metal and usually its clear coated like the old AMG wheels.

It means:

that the wheels have like a 'brushed' or 'machined' finish on the lip. This is typical of almost all AMG wheels. The lips are almost never painted, they are however, clearcoated to protect them. The pic I am posting is the clearest shot I can give you that exemplifies what I mean.

I think Tirerack made a cut&paste error when the wrote up the specs for the split-spokes.

If you get a chance to see an SLK32/C32, you'll see that the lips are not machined, they are painted

I Want to know what those wheels are in that pic!

Hey, I wnat to know what those wheels are...I'll take delivery of my SLK32 in about a month; and as much as I like the AMG twin spoke, I've got to go to 18-inch wheels (8 or 8.5 Fr and 9 or 9.5 Rr) to get the tires that I want on it. I've picked out a couple of aftermarket possibilities; but I am still looking, and I want to find out if the wheels pictured are available in 18 x 8.5, 9, or 9.5 widths.<br> Thanks.
