....the dimension of these wheels and tires. Will they fit on an '98 SLK?
1 - What about the rear Tires? Will they fit on the wheels?

2 - What about the 40 profile on the rear? Are they to big? Will they hit the car?

3 - What if the car is lowered with AMG springs?
Looking at the dimensions of the wheels, I think they'll fit fine with no modifications whatsoever. However, 245/40R18 is too big in diameter for the rear and might cause problems with ABS/ASR. The rear tires should be either 245/35R18 or 255/35R18.
There shouldn't be a problem with lowering the car with those wheels. The only dimension that's larger than the stock 17" AMG wheels and tires is the tire width at insides of the rear wheels, and I believe there's more than 5mm of extra space on the inside so it shouldn't be a problem.
