Update: My "scratch" on AMG wheel. It's not a scratch - it was just yellow paint!

What bugged me about the "scratch" is I didn't feel any indention like you'd expect from a paint scratch or chip. I took my SLK through the local Mike's Express Car Wash, and noticed that the track to get into the car wash took the right-side wheels (which the rear right wheel is where mine was at). I noticed the track had (of all things) YELLOW paint - and was severely scuffed. So, I got an idea.
When I got home, I got out a brand-new soft-bristled tooth brush, Miguire car shampoo, an cloth, and a pot of boiling water, and scrubbed by arse off. I applied the shampoo directly to the tooth brush, and only dipped the brush in boiling water to help rinse. After a few moments, I found the yellow was disappearing. This confirmed the "scratch" was just a smudge of yellow paint. After an hour (yes a stinking hour!) I had removed all of the yellow.
I must have clipped the track at the car wash last fall. I'm very pleased to have that issue behind me. Whew. Now, if I can only get my keyed door fixed... That's my next project!!
