hi... i was considering buying teh 320, but I wanted to know how it handles in the winter.
I live in SW Ontario and we receive quite a bit of snow... has anyone driven the car in the snow? how does it handle?
Ottawa here. First year with the little beast ... my findings and research have described the SLK as a "little tractor" when you put the proper foot ware on the wheels.

'Course, I'm going to garage it as much as I can, given the aggressive salting techniques of our Municipality, but other than that, I have full plans to take ‘er out and strut the stuff (rear wheel hi torque on the ice and all .....!)

Hey - if you've not decided by the time I put my winters on (it's been dry as a bone up here) I'll let you know how I plow through the white stuff.
Cheers,
Reporting an excellent first experience on snow and icy roads here in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada in my SLK320 on the following winterwear, as recommended by the dealer, according to factory specs:

4 Wheels: MB alloys 7Jx16, P/N 6-6-47-0509
4 Tires: Pirelli W210 SnowSport 205/55HR16

Very favourably impressed with the Pirelli SnowSports - quiet, with sharp turn-ins and predictable response, but more expensive than Michelin Pilot Alpines and Blizzaks.

Question for you: even on the sunniest of days ... with the "driest" of highways ... would you break the 160 km/h "Q" rate? I'm trying to get a sense from Canadian drivers of how they really take the winter driving speeds given our understanding of black ice, etc..

I'm about to mount Blizzaks, but I have this feeling like I'm handicapping myself if I don’t go to H rated winter-month rubber (Ice gripping accolades for Blizzak's notwithstanding).

Thanks for feedback.
You're right - 160 km/h is not a problem because of restrictive winter driving conditions; my concern would be for the Load Rating... for example a Q rated tire typically gives a load rating of 89, and not 91 which the SLK calls for and which an H rated tire usually provides. I feel you're probably pretty safe with Blizzaks though, considering our northern icy winter roads; in my case I thought I'd just stick to the specs. I'll let you know how the car handles the winter. Cheers!
