98 SL 600 Engine light on

Last week I was driving with my SL 600 and suddenly the check engine light, the BAS/ASR light, and the Water temperature light came on at the same time and the rpm counter went to zero.

Here are the failure codes after the quick test

ME1R

P1747 CAN from ETC faulty
P1384 Left front knock sensor
P0432 Left TWC effiency below threshold
P0155 Left O2S 1 (before TWC) (G3/3) heater circuit malfunction
P0160 Left O2S 2 (after TWC) (G3/5) no activity detected
P0161 Left O2S 2 (after TWC) (G3/5) heater circuit malfunction
P1149 Left pressure sensor (B28/1)
P0153 A Left O2S 1 (before TWC) (G3/3) correction range exceeded
P0153 B Left O2S 1 (before TWC) (G3/3) slow response

C1142 Lateral acceleration
-004 sensor B24/2 or sensor B24/15 Plausibility

Does anybody know what my problem could be?

Looks like everything happens all at once. But some codes may be triggered by others.
I would start by clearing all codes and deal with the first one that comes back.

what year is it? if it is a 93-95 it could be the wire harness. i would check for cracking insulation around the wires. it normally would cause a lot of codes to come up all of a sudden.

somebody told me the problem could be a CAN connection plug. Is there a cable coming out of the transmission to a control unit?

that would mean?

That means you transmission is electronically controlled, so to answer your post #4 : there would be cable connected to it.

But there should be no oil running along that cable? or could that happen?
Where does this cable go?

Why would there be oil ? it is electrical cable.
