Not Such A Hero After all...

Just when I thought I had the dealership by the ba**s, I ended up paying over $700. for my dome light replacement. Needless to say, I WILL be canceling the extended warranty plan I bought. They found SO MANY loopholes, it was ridiculous! First told me the part was covered and to schedule the repair, then denied once it was done. Low blow! Not even willing to meet me half way. They're gone! Lesson Learned.

I will have parts available if anyone needs them.

Oh, man that suck.... Sorry to heard about that.... I always have them put it on writing if it cover by the warranty before they work on the car.... You should call mbusa and file a complaint.... Also let your dealer know you post all over the internet "don't do business with that dealer" They will have more to lose...

That is so wrong on multiple levels! Sorry to hear how badly you were treated.

If you don't mind me asking, who is your extended warranty company? I have an untested extended warranty and what happened to you is one of my biggest fears.

Rat Bastards ! I don't know who underwrote your extended warranty, but I have never seen one where someone didn't get re-screwed when a repair became necessary. Even my normally reasonably S.O. Got suckered into $2 grand for an extended warranty on a 12k car (prior to our getting together). The icing on the cake was me replacing bearings and drive axels on my dime due to exclusions in that rip off policy. Those contracts call for an extraordinary level of maintainance that leaves you screwed if one item is missed. Or they simply don't pay. I would NEVER EVER EVER buy anything like that EVER ! As I say, Rat Bastards ! Call your sate insurance commissioner and file a complaint. I'll bet you won't be the first or last !

better business bureau or bureau of automotive repair. i say the second of the two is the better of the two. but the company probably as stated wrote it well enough to cover their a**. the only thing you can do is accept it i would guess unfortunately. when i went to the dealer today i read and reread the paperwork two or three times to make sure i had less likelihood of being screwed lets face it they know what they are doing and do it for a living. the best we can do is try to guard ourselves. i also never get extended warranties... but for different reasons.

The extended warranty is with Royal Administration Services. I was told by the service mgr., who by the way really went to bat for me at multiple levels, that they have a great warranty. I will be speaking with them this morning. They say they never have issues with them and they cover almost everything. I'll let you all know what I find out.

Thanks for your support.

Why not mention casually in passing that you are a member of a global automotive website with 401,014 members? (As @ 5 mins ago) Might help.......

I've heard few stories of people happy with 3rd party extended warranties. Shame really how they just seem to loophole their way out of anything.

My extended warranty is with Royal Administration Services as well. I've read and re-read the warranty a few times and it appears to be a good one. However, I have not had an opportunity to test it.

I'm very interested in what you find out.

After speaking with the manager at RAS, he said he could not help me out, despite the fact that his employee specifically advised me the part was covered and to schedule the repair. I already put in motion a letter and call to cancel this lame policy, and will be purchasing one through the dealer from Preferred Warranties, Inc. Plus Plan.

Here is the link: http://warrantys.com/Downloads/Broch...h_AllPlans.pdf

I will let you know how it looks after meeting with them next week.
