Matte blacking AMG wheel centres

i am curious on everyone's opinions. i am thinking of making my wheels matte black, well parts of them anyways.

i would make the centre part matte black. but those bolts around the edge would stay shiny silver. as well as the centre cap chrome part. what are everyone's opinions on this idea? it would look like the picture except in a nice matte finish. it would basically be the Lamborghini Reventon finish.

oh i also have a arctic white car with tan interior.

another thought, maybe also getting just the ///AMG chromed to stand out a bit.

Call me old fashioned but they don't do much for me But then I'm not a great lover of the older style AMG type I and II wheels either. Yet a lot of members seem to prefer them.

I feel the later AMG VI & VII are a lot classier, so I suppose it's a matter of what pushes your buttons

Before you ruin your wheels send them to me. The SL and the murdered out look don't go IMO.

Try dark grey or titanium, much like the color of newer MB wheels.
It's more subtle than black.

Obviously wheel color is a very personal decision. IMHO chrome looks cheap on many wheels. Polished or matt alloys seem to look the best. I am personally hooked on the 3 pc AMG alloys that I was fortunate to have on the car I found. That was an important decision point and I love them. If anything was to be different, perhaps polished lips, but it's not worth all the monkey motion to revamp mine. I know as I watch Craigslist or EBay each day, I pretty much pass over any car with black rims. They blend with the tires and just seem to lack pizazz. IMHO !

I've tried to stay away from the wheels threads as it's kind of like high heels on a woman, different people like different things. I had a triple black corvette ZR1 and I put black Grand Sport wheels on it and I thought it looked great. I really like my white SL600 with the original chrome wheels. Many people on here have said they don't like the 8 hole chrome wheels. I've seen silver SL's with the same chrome wheels I have and I didn't like them as well. Personally I think the color of the car has a lot to do with which wheels look good. Take a picture of your car and photo shop it. To me, it's what you like not what everyone else likes. It's your car after all.

Fritha78,

that is very good advice. i like the look of blacking the wheel centres i think. but then i think of how nice these wheels are and once i do that they will never be able to go back to what they were before. i will have to do the photo shop thing to see if it will look good on my white car.

ahh pete, i shall need the wheels if i want to black them. haha. if i had a spare set i would send them to you. unfortunately i only have the one set that has been on the car since was bought in oct. 95. i saw them as an option on the list price sheet thing with all the options.

i shall go to photoshop and see how they look.

I like my grey with polished face VII style I also like the fact the spokes finish flush with the wheel rim. But it is good we have such a selection of styles to choose from. With the limited nice body paint combo's, our wheel selection helps personalise each car.
