R 129 SL600 suspension height adjustment Front

I recently had the valve block for the suspension replaced on the front of my car. It was leaking down and the car would have to pump up every time I started it. When I got it back from the shop the car was sitting noticeably higher in the front. Is there anyway it can be adjusted to sit lower as it was before or is this just a side affect of the aftermarket rebuilt part that was used. My mechanic told me that this is the height it's supposed to be at, but I've noticed it sits higher than every other R 129 I've seen. Both 500s and 600s.

Maybe you can post a picture, then we can see if your ride height is normal for the 600 with ADS. A 600 with good working ADS isn't very low.

There is a linkage that you can adjust that goes from your front swaybar to your level control valve. There is a nut on the linkage and when you adjust it it will make the link longer or shorter and change the height. Just don't be under the car when you adjust it or you will be crushed.

The car height is also managed (higher/lower) by the computer (preferred method).

It depends if he has ADS1 or 2, being a 95 it could be either I think depending on the build date. If you mess with the height on ADS2 and it is higher or lower than the computers parameters it will throw a suspension code and your ads light comes on. ADS1 you wont have that issue. As long as he does not lower it past the specific height programmed in the computer than he won't have hook it up to star diagnostics to adjust it.

I have a 2001 sl600 and my ADS system is in great shape. My next project is to replace the nitrogen spheres and flush the entire system as maintenance. I wish there was a way to manipulate the ADS computer so, that I could lower the car way-way low when I wanted for aesthetics. I like the look of a lowered "Euro Look" with lowering springs but, I don't want to give up the comforts of the self-leveling suspension. Has anyone wanted to do that? I thought it would be cool to have a aftermarket piggy-back controller like the soft top controller and lower it like that.

You can hook it up to the star diagnostics and change the ride height but you cant just change it on the fly. You can change the ride height and the height the car goes to when you press the switch next to your headlights. As you know the switch gives you 2 different heights besides the stock height. The 1st height with 1 light you can drive on up to 30mph the second is 15 IIRC. You could have the regular height set really low then if the roads are bad or there are spped bumps you can press the button and have it raise up and can drive up to 30mph like that. Only issues you might run into is the car drops about an inch when it hits 70? so if its too low and it drops down you might have issues with rubbing?

That would be ideal. Do you know of anyone who has used the STAR Diagnostics and changed the settings? I like to have less fender-well gap showing. I live in Phoenix where most of our roads are like-new and incredibly flat and straight......guess that's why so many people have exotic cars here.
