Cruise Control Function Fixed

Hi friends,
I am to share the experience of fixing the c/c function.
The cause of my c/c malfunction is the bad c/c amplifier. I replaced it with a W124’s and test the function for 2 weeks. It works so far so good.
The R129’s c/c amplifier can substituted by W124’s and the big benefit is: saving money! This used w124’s amp. only costs me us$30.
Hope this finding is helpful to the forum.
Regards,
morris

Thanks Morris,

My 92 300sl cruise control has worked only a few times in the last year. Is this the fix I should try? Where is the amplifier located? It looks like a plug and play...is that all there is to it? Where should I look for the part in the US?

Anyone else out there that has experienced an intermittent criuse control?

Hi inf300sl, are you running on OEM spec. wheels and tires, or do you have aftermarket wheels? There have been members with the incorrect size wheels / tires which is also known to cause a malfunction in the cruise control system.

Here is one example:

Best Regards.

Is the CC module for a 1992 300SL the same as a 500 SL? If so, where is it mounted?

Mike

I don't downshift often, but when I do, it is next to a Prius so I can show them how I am hurting the environment! -

Thanks Ken,

My 300sl is bone stock with original wheels and standard issue size tires. On a very few ocassions the cc has operated properly, but so many times it would not opperate that I have stoppped trying. I have heard that putting in new fuses will often help solve the problems of intermittent operation.

What else copuld be causing the trouble? I am driving the car to Florida tomorrow and will try the cc again.

Jack

Hi jnf300sl,
The c/c amplifier's position is shown as the attached. It is beside the MAS unit.
My c/c's symptom is similar to yours: intermittent, sometimes engaged, sometimes not. After I replaced the amplifier, everything is going fine.
The car junk yards might be plentiful of w124’s c/c amplifiers, you can go and find one.

Good luck,
morris

On the R124 programa says something about codes.
Did you have to work on that?
I can't find any info for R129's.
Also I don't know if it's the same CC for 500 and 600
Regards.
aam.
