The wife has just sold her 2006 Mercedes SLK prior to our upgrade of 18" Wheels which were recently purchased. All four wheels are 18x8 5/112 35ET (offset)
The wheels and brand new and never mounted. (can be rotated with same size tires mounted).
Our loss -- someones gain -- We are offering the wheels for sale @ $650.00 including shipping. For final confirmation of price we would need a zip code to verify an estimated average freight cost properly to all locations in the U.S.
My car used to be standard non-sport, non xenon etc. I upgraded in 2004 to sport, wood steering wheel, wood knob, ECU tune, K&N stuff, xenon ...
These parts are coming from a black 1999 SL500 and are in good working order (used but not broken). The parts include, shift knob, steering wheel, front complete headlights, front bumper (with foglights and tow hook cover), rear bumper, side skirts, front and rear springs, shift knob surround. All these are original standard ones (no wood, no xenon, no sport). I thought I had some other stuffs too but can't remember at the moment. I would prefer buyers to come and inspect and pick them up. I don't have any pictures right now but those who look for them should know how they look like.
I also have a pair of brand new drilled/slotted front rotors for the pre-99 R129 as well. I bought them for my car but it was a bit small since Mercedes upgraded the brakes in 1999.
Wanted: R129 shifter panel cover and the instrument cluster fascia
Hi all,
I am searching for the shifter panel cover and the instrument cluster fascia for a new project I'm working on that will hopefully benefit many R129 owners. I do have one very generous owner who is scanning 1:1 images of his aftermarket shifter overlays for me but I'd also like to eventually get my hands on something tangible and OEM to verify measurements, etc.
If anyone has either, even non-functioning, broken, poor condition, that's fine as I really just need the pieces to make a pattern for outlining the cutouts and the general shape. I am happy to repay the kindness of anyone who can help by giving you a finished set once completed, which will also help me confirm they fit properly once finished. I can return your originals if you need them back. I am in Portland, OR should that be useful info.
Stopped at a gas station. filled up, started the car, it died. started it again, and there is a knock coming from the passenger side, middle of the engine.
Turned it off, and had it towed to an independent that I have a lot of confidence in.
He borescoped the cyls, and declared them all clean. Dropped the pan, and found metal shavings in it. He is not sure what is banging, and has not run into this specific situation before. He does not think it's a valve, or a timing chain issue. The engine runs pretty smooth.
His suggestion is to either turn up the radio and drive it until we know exactly what it is, because it will be sticking out the side of the engine.....
or, pull the motor and tear it down to find the culprit.
So, either way, it's a rebuild, replace. I do not have the time or expertise to do this myself, although I have done lots of marine engines. Another mech friend of mine has located a couple of 40,000 mile engines that could be had for around 4K installed.
Rather than go through 2 months of no car, I went out and bought a replacement. Now, I'd like to sell this car as a project to someone who appreciates the 129 Roadster, and has the place and time to do it. She's been a great daily driver, and there was no "warning" of this happening. It just did. Adding up what I have put into the car in the last year, it will be effectively free and the parts are new.
My CLS wheels are done right, with the 8mm spacers on the fronts to clear the calipers.

They have normal wear and tear on a 12 year old rim. They have a spot on one wheel where clear is chipping and a couple of curb rash spots. They are not new and the price is reflective of that. They are the offset of the stock wheels for a 97 SL 500 Sport. Whatever that might be. I have no idea what other models they will fit. Looking to get around $350 for all four and the lugs with center caps. Thanks Pickup is at 28516 or I could ship from here and you pay actual shipping costs.
