I'm also interested in a gear change, 2.56 is stock I hear, a 3.08 or 3.55 would be mean!!!
Brabus did my ecu tune to match with my engine mods....

I hate to say this..... The mods that you doing to your car not going to make your car run in the low 13...... mid 12 forget it...... Sorry.....
I guarantee your car not running in the low 14 too......
If you don't want to mess with the engine..... Just go with the K&N air filter & full exhaust system..... That will get your car to run in the low 14 to high 13.......
I think most members will agree with me.....

Beware all the money you spent on the mods to make your car go fast will cost a lot..... it not an investment it rather a preference......
It order to run in the mid 13 sec...... Your stock engine must be in a great shape..... before you mods your engine......
Air intake you need K&N, custom porting & polish, port-matching with both upper & lower intake plenums, TB and exhaust manifolds...... like what Ken doing...
Exhaust system...... Running a straight pipe or high flow metal catalyst system, delete the resonator, and put on the a light weight high flow muffler.....
Weight reduction...... take off your hardtop, spare tire, light weight battery, and if you can change your seat that would be great....... Those seat weight 100 pounds each.....
After all that now you can get your ecu tune.......
BTW if you do all those mods don't forget to upgrade your brakes system....
Excellent words of advice mentioned by Tony.
In addition to current performance modifications, power to weight ratio is critical.
According to the general consensus, 100 lbs = 1 tenth of a second give or take on the 1/4.

+1. Only way to get low 13's or high 12's will be with a NOS kit or 6.0L engine. I don't recall seeing anyone with a NOS kit on the 119.98x engine (1996-99), but I'd love to see that install with details on how it was done.

Well like I said before, I must have a factory freak because my best run was 14.217 @99.4 @ 1200 ft. elev and it was 98* outside, I'm sure when its in the 50's outside I could knock a tenth off of that, maybe more, but let me just make the point of I'm not trying to make this a street monster, I have one of those a 99' Pontiac Trans Am with a 6.0 LQ9 w/ twin GT28r's 60 trim, 4L80-E putting 878rwhp to the pavement!!! I just want to make it a strong runner and be responsive and improve efficiency and sound and not get waxed by another R129 if one gets on the side of me or even a newer 03-06 w/ M113. This is only my second Benz, my first was a 78' 450sl 15 years ago, so I'm not well versed in Benz tech and that is why I am seeking wisdom here not sarcasm and crap outers! How about some optimism or support!!
In a nutshell, I'm just trying to make the fuckin thing run stronger

Like, what i say your motor is healthy and running strong for stock..... You're not going to get beat by an SL with m113 motor...... You can trust me on this one...... If an m113 motor is mods it can turn in to a MONSTER.....!!!

Should i get rid of the cat too? one member said he gained almost .5 by doing that alone. Any suggestions on muffler brand and pipe diameter?
96+ years you shouldn't remove the cats. people have done it and it has lead to many problems if i understand correctly.
Shit, that figures, are you positive about that? has anyone else heard that? I know Neoken removed his and gained a buttload of speed, but he is a 95', I wonder if it has to do with the OBD II. I'm going to have to do some investigating. What have you heard happens to them other than maybe throwing a code?
