Post Trouble Code P1519 - Adjustable Camshaft Timing Solenoid

Since i got the car 08/2008 i havent get to drive it more than 2000 miles without the CEL coming on. I was driving home from work last night and the CEL came on. I read the codes and this time i got P1519. After a search i found that this might be idle Air Control Valve Circuit Failure. I really dont know where to start and what to check first. Anyone had that code before?
Thank you in advance

Hi Dimitris.

Just spoke with my ASE certified technician with regards to diagnostic fault code P1519.
This is what he pulled from their references:

P1522 Mercedes LH Adjustable Camshaft Timing Solenoid
P1519 Mercedes RH Adjustable Camshaft Timing Solenoid

Perhaps we can get a third opinion from other forum members for further verification?

Thanks in advance.

Dimitris I'm sorry to hear you are getting problems but as a start I would clean the MAF just in case. MAFs on our cars seem to be a little troublesome or at least delicate and from what I understand they seem to get dirty fairly easy so the code you got even if it's not related to the MAF might be caused by it. If you do an advanced search on the forum for MAF cleaners you'd get the names of some good ones and if memory assists me a good one should be from CRC or something.

Cheers.

I agree with Ken. I would check the operation of the left-hand timing solenoid with a basic electronic multimeter. The test procedures are given in the engine diagnostic manual contained in both the Mercedes WIS and R129 Tech DVD.

Thank you all guys for the help. Its much appriciated. I think its time to get this DVD. I cleared the light and i ll see if it comes back on. Mbarsi you are right about how troublesome is the Maf. I cleaned it with CRC MAF cleaner just 2.5K miles ago. Maybe its time for a new one

Dimitris as aam says the CRC spray is only a temporary fix because sooner or later MAFs do fail and they need to be replaced and if you already cleaned it and it only lasted 2,500 miles you need to start shop around Ebay (yes Ebay) for a new Bosch one. There are a lot of infos about our MAF in the forum to help you pick the right one so it's time to do some shopping for you.

Cheers.
