Tight!!!! (just to be different)LOL!!! Don't worry about TORQUING these bolts, Tight is close enough!!!!!! If your not sure what "Tight" is, Let someone else do it!!!
I'd like a specific answer b/c the drivers was tight after the shop adjusted the striker but after a few months, thier version tight, was not tight enough and came loose. I have them as tight as I can get them with a hand tool on the drivers side but it's not nearly as tight as the passenger side which has never been loosen (but needs it since that side also needs a small adjustment). I picked up a 3/8" socket driver Torx set today, so I'll have more leverage to loosen/tighten these screws but I don't want to snap them off or strip them trying to make them as too tight.
This is the door latch on a roadster, so it being tight enough without breaking the screw is an important safety issue in my eyes.
the passenger side which has never been loosen (but needs it since that side also needs a small adjustment). .
Loosen the passenger side (that has never been loosen) using a torque wrench and note the lbs.number at which it breaks loose. Use the same lbs. number to tighten. I use this approach only if I'm certain that lock tite (or other sealant) was not applied to the bolt (or nut) when it was installed.
Also, you may want to put (or replace) a lock washer to keep the bolt tight in place.
Break-away torque will ALWAYS be higher than tightning torque.I don't have the correct # that your looking for,but I wouldn't go more than about 30 Lbs. The good thing about Torx heads is, the tool will break before the bolt will.
I will never understand how you, I, or others can post an answer and it becomes invisable for some reason.
The other thing I don't get is when someone posts a question it seems like we do the right thing by posting the answers and they never come back for the answer and if they do they don't read the above but instead say I don't get it.
