The dealer will rape you from behind with no lube on those wood trim pieces. I just priced out a new wood trim piece that goes under the armrest on the 600's, since mine has a hairline crack on it, and they wanted $1400. For that price I'll live with the crack.
Ebay.. yup been that route for 3 years now. Still have yet to find one in good shape ALMOST last week but they found a chip. Mine peeled up and broke apart. The other side is STARTING to do the same. 500 per side to replace from dealer.

I have that problem occuring as well. The plan is to sand them smooth, color them to match the car (options are endless there...), and then epoxy them. Should work like a champ and can be done with carbon, wood, aluminum, etc....

Kimswang:

I like your style! My burl switch covers are going to hell in a hand basket. The replacement price is criminal. Tell me more about your plan.
How would you go about the careful sanding? Whould you use a filler on the base?.

I am not much of a wookworker, but with some details and helpful "do's and don'ts" I can maybe manage. I would sure like to give it a try. The worst that could happen is I screw up the color so bad I don't want them to stand out.
Then I paint them tan (parchment) and nobody will know they are there!

yup those are the parts. Still have yet to find one available.

Found a set last night that had stickers on them. VERY nice seller and Looked ok but that would make me want to stab myself in the temple with an ice pick every time i looked at them. So still on the prowl. Going to ask my Indy guy who has connections might be able to get them thru him. Maybe he knows of some junked SL's that i can pilfer from.
