My 1998 has been running perfectly for over a year and I drive it over 60 miles every day, even in the winter. I make a point of never telling any one how my car is running, just don't want to tempt fate. The other day my son asked me how my SL was running, I paused for a moment to think about my answer...then I opened my big mouth and said "great". 20 minutes later the low fuel light started to flash then went out and then the infernal check engine light came on and has stayed on for three days and is still on. I have no one to blame but myself.
The other day I thought to myself, well I guess I finally got a good AC switch, it has lasted for 2 years. Next day, it broke and I didn't have AC, atleast the dealer had one in stock.
I have replaced so many of those things I was glad to see one last 2 years.
Yes, I know your benz is alot newer than mine, but it is still a benz, and thats all the counts.

In order to lift the curse, drive to your nearest church and fill your windshield washer reservoir with holy water.
Then, find yourself a long stretch of pavement and drive as fast as you can (reach the rev limiter if possible.)
While at full speed, begin spraying the entire amount of holy water onto the car while reciting "Our Father, halo be thy name..."
I can guarantee that you will never have this problem again, and may God have mercy on your soul

Could have been an oxegen sensor playing up. In the past when I had to take my Range Rover for an emmisions test I always drove it at very high rpm`s for 10 mins or so before going into the test station. This I learnt after 2 failures would clear any buildup from the sensor. I was given this tip by a RR tec. It then always had very low readings.
