HEy im having a problem with one of our Sl's. Every time i try to close the hardtop manually everything closes fine except the rear pass latch is not closing all the way there is a gap. And when i try to press a little harder to close it it with the tools it opens back up. Any idea? This happened before and then it worked but i dont know what now.

So your control units bad and won't operate by the red button?
The other day I wanted to take off my top and could'nt pop it with the button, the left front latch released but the right was stuck, I used the tool to get both open, and read someone else had a problem when they put the top on not putting the rear posts in first, causing the front latches to not release. This may not have anything to do with your top, but it happened to me.
No , that unit is fine, One if my cylinders is leaking so i was putting the top on manually but the pass rear latch is no locking when im doing it manually , i think its locked when there is nothing in there. I might have to add oil and work it .

If this is your '92 car, then you can use the special tool from the car's toolkit to open the lock. For the '95, I suggest hot-wiring together the solenoid for the latch and the the hydraulic pump. To do that have the key off and the soft top compartment cover lowered or completely closed. Next, access that soft top controller and remove its two connectors. Jumper sockets #18 and #54 of the long connector together and then briefly connect them to socket #1 of the short connector (12VDC) -- the pump should run and open the lock.

Ok Bobterry , i will try that .I did buy some oil for the car , im going to do this normally if it doesn't work i will try your idea.ITs the 95 BTW.ANd when you say jump , do i just get a wire and put 18 and 54 together ?
ANd when you say jump , do i just get a wire and put 18 and 54 together ?
Yes -- use a wire or paper clip. Put 18 and 54 together first. Then briefly connect these to #1 of the other connector. The pump will run while the connection to #1 is made. Since you are leaking oil in your system, there is no point in running the pump longer than necessary to open the closed latch.
Ok so i got some oil and i put it in , the latch is still closed and now for some reason my Storage cover will not open .And i couldn't figure out how to open it manually.
Is this what i should be connecting? and how do i know the numbers? 18-54?
No, that is the connector for reading diagnostic codes from the various electronic systems. You want to access the soft top control module located undera false floor in the storage compartment behind the passenger seat. The numbers should be printed on the male connectors attached to the soft top controller.
