Where is the CPS (Crankshaft Position Sensor)?

I've seen the CPS on the E320 (W210) but couldn't find it on the R129. It doesn't seem to be where it should/would be. Does anyone have a picture of where it is? Thanks a million.

cps

i can't find my picture of it, but, on my 90 sl500 if you are facing the front it is at the end of the valve cover (kind of to the right of middle at the front of the engine. It has a coax type cable attached to it that runs over to the fender well. that cable was cut on mine and it cost me a wiring harness to repair. 2k. hope this helps...

I think the Cam Shaft Sensor is on the back of the engine. Either on the rear of the block or the bellhousing. Replacing it is not real easy.

I found and replaced it. It was hard to see and much harder to replace.

I was told where it was but took me 6 months to finally see it !!! Even if I take pictures now, it's hard to see.

Standing on the driver side front fender (against the front wheel) with the engine cover off. The CPS is at the back of the engine. It should be beneath the MAF (intake) and above the transmission. Its end should point right at you as you look at it. (I always thought it would point to the firewall of the car and that was why I could never find it). Hope this helps.
