Here are some pictures from our recent trip to the Highlands of Scotland and the Isle of Skye. My apologies for having such a dirty car!
This first one is near Redpoint, south of Loch Gairloch. The view is south and west with the Cuillin Hills of Skye visible in the background.
This is on Skye on the Trotternish penninsular, near the Quiraing hills.
Here we are at the most photographed castle in Scotland, which you will recognise as Eilean Donan.
This is typical of the superb and traffic-free driving conditions in north west Scotland. It really is possible to enjoy oneself at the wheel almost all the time.
Looking east from half way up the Pass of the Cattle (Bealach na Ba), possibly the most spectacular road I have driven.
And west from the same point: up, up and up.
Looking down Glen Docharty towards Kinlochewe and Loch Maree. Nice wheelie bin. Probably the best stretch of road I have ever driven on, smooth, spectacular, well-engineered and empty.
This final picture wasn't taken in the highlands but on the A701 Edinburgh-Moffat-Dumfries road at the Devil's Beef Tub. I have included it for good measure.
I cannot recommend Scotland enough for driving. In the south of the country the roads are awash with speed camera vans but if either (1) you drive with your eyes open or (2) you are sporting your US plates, there is nothing to worry about. In the north, however, it is very quiet and little policed with some extremely good roads. We met a very pleasant American couple from Philidelphia.
These pics were taken while cruisin my 500 on Long Island , NY 2 weeks ago..
These are also the last with the pano top on as its going to be off the car this week
