Being that I live in a male dominated society( middle east), its funny to see the reactions in peoples faces when me and my baby daughter get out of the car...
Well, I finally picked up the car yesterday, and it is as I expected. It's the 2002 SL500 Silver arrow I referred to in my other posting. Great ride - I got to spend a couple of hours in it yesterday (including about 45 minutes waiting in border traffic to get back into Canada. The weather isn't exactly photo weather, so I'll post some of the pix the dealer took, and when it's nicer, I'll post some of my own - that may have to wait until spring. In any evet, here are some of the pix - top on / top off / interior. She's a beaut!
Wald kit . Headlamp xenon + side clear conversion , grille assembly, 18" amg 2 piece, Amg brakes, side mirror conversion over 4months.
I think its quite enough for now.
I like the original 17" 3 piece amg rims but they develop cracks at the mounting holes so I upgraded to the 18' 2 piece amg. I didn't feel any performance lost at all nor increased ride discomfort.
I'm trying out the dunlop sp sport tires but the most enjoyable upgrade is the amg brakes. The originals are just too soft. Slam these brakes hard you feel the grip of rubber and you come to a precision standstill. However, these brakes did not stick alot on initial pressure so the ride comfort is better -not too jerky. Very satisfying esp in my city driving routine where there is too many traffic lights.
For crystal clear side lights conversion, before you push in completely check the fit lower end where the plastic meets the headlamp. You would need to file off about 1 cm of the corner to avoid cracking it.
The wing mirror mod is something i had wanted to do as i didn't like the magnified driver's side for the square mirror. The newer curved mirror improves the blind spot vision. This modification requires a new connector as the old one do not fit.
