Unfortunately the R129 has never had an LSD but Tech-Tune I remember had a talk with some company talking them into something of the sort.
I don't know unfortunately how the thing ended up yet.
After research, I had a conversation with Mr Claus Ankjær (KLEEMANN director) who told me the following:
''
I am very sure our large housing LSD from newer cars will fit in your cars rear axle or we can make it fit, however I will need to have you ship the rear to us for install and we will return it 1-2 days later.
Price :
LSD € 1.550,00
Install € 430,00
It’s approx. 50% lock up.
Parts has to be machined inside the rear, so we have to do it here at KLEEMANN, specially if something has to be redesigned to fit your R129. ''
It's a little bit of expensive, but... think of it!

Well if you think of it and think about the advantages it might give especially on more powerful R129s it doesn't seem that expensive. I don't know the cost of the standard differential but my feeling is that it won't cost much less than what Kleeman is asking for the LSD and the stock diff doesn't have the advantages of limites slipage.
I would like to know if the Kleeman is asimmetrical or simmetric tho and how muc it would help traction especially getting out of corners under hard acceleration and with ASR/ESP off.
I'd been serching infos about some sort of E-Diffs but unfortunately nothing useful has come out for now.
This saturday I will be at the Bologna Motor Show and seek for other infos and report if I find something suitable.
Aside from being a bit disappointed that i had the wrong info, i might be able to help. Does anyone know who the supplier of the open diff was originally?

Maybe Tech-Tune if you speak with the American branch they might come up with some good prices in USD. I think o_Anapodos... was given quotes in Euros because he's in Greece so if you ask them maybe they can help...
The price is not that steep tho: a good set of 17" wheels could cost much more than that at least here and for the power your car is producing needs a very good LSD to handle all your torque and Kleeman, I feel, can produce a good one. I'm still a little skeptic about the making fit part but they surely know what they are doing. It would help if they got a test R129 to experiment and get it right: a guinea pig is not my favourite animal if you see what I mean...
I hope I can collect some more information at the motorshow on Saturday tho.
I think that the price is good, and in my case which i have the Asr disabled permanently, i think that the lsd is necessary! I 'll do some more research and we will see!
