sl 500 window problem

We stored our 98 sl500 over the winter and disconneted the battery. Now the weather has improved and when taking the car out of storage and reconnected the battery the windows didn't work. We tried syncing windows according to manual but they still will not work. Consequently, the roll bar and top down button are lit and also will not work. Any experience with this?????????
Thanks

check the fuse in the trunk........ good luck...

Horsepower: enough power to go from point A to point B
Torque: enough to get the car moving

0-60 mph: not in a rush
0-1/4 mile: about 5 minutes @ 2mph because no need to showoff

We had a similar issue in our 93 500sl. The fuse for the windows and top are located in the trunk near the battery just below the far right side of the trunk lid. They seem to deteriorate more rapidly due to exposure to outgasing of the battery. Check & REPLACE those first and clean the contacts in the fuse holder. I have had this happen when you use the button to retract the top and the weakened window fuse blows as the top starts its cycle. The top button will then flash and top motion will hang-up.

Now window is down, and won't go up

The saga continues,,,we really regret buying this car! After disconnecting battery and syncing windows when we opened the doors, the window went down and now they won't go up, roll bar and topper light are still on!
Now what?
Any comments appreciated!

If your fuses are good, then I think a fault code is set in the soft top control unit or worse, the control unit may be bad. I would have the codes checked. Because this is a '96 or newer car you will need an advanced code scanner to read the codes. These are expensive and typically had only by an M-B repair specialist.

sl 500 convertible top module

Wouldn't you know it, the simple thing didn't work and not it's time to drag out the green! I was quoted $1857 for installed new module. Car has only 50K. I wish I would have bought another AUDI! Any chance you know of a place where we can get the part for less?

Now that I am in the market for one, is this a common problem? I would probaby through away the car before I spend this much money on a repair job, but then again, you are stuck and you will not be able to get rid of it before fixing her? Any one else here had a similar poblem with the "module"?

Honestly I've never had a single problem with the car other than a reg number light replaced last saturday and replacing the windscreen 2 months ago because of chipstones from another car (replaced at an insurance top shop and I am an insurance professional) and other than the Check engine light and I'm working on it.
Every car breaks down that's obvious but with the help of the forum the 80% of the spares aren't that expensive especially if you think that these cars were worth well over 80.000 $ when new at least.

Cheers.

After this issue I am truly soured on the car. When I asked the dealer about the cause of this malfunction he said that it usually is caused by jumping the car, which we did not do. Furthermore, when I asked how often he sees it happen, his reply was "it's not that common, we only see about one a week!" Considering that here in MN this car is not that common, it seems like a lot to me. Good Luck!!!
