Central Locking

I own a 280SL 1998 . Problem....It my understanding when you lock the central locking from the outside using the KEY (not the remote) that only the drivers door locks not the other door and compartments, but when you unlock with the KEY , all parts unlock. Will anybody please confirm as I Urgently need to know ( Yes /No ).Thanks Dave

On my car, a US 1997 model, locking with the key has the same effect as locking with the remote...all interior compartments (except door bins), doors and trunk lock. I know this b/c when I purchased the car from my father the central locking system had a problem and sometimes the remotes wouldn't work and I'd have to use the key to lock/unlock at those times and I did check to make sure the interior compartments were locking since I often carry a gun in one of them.
