I found the solution for the hydraulic struts fluid leaks from the windshield visors
found the solution to the top hydraulics windshield leak, the problem are the original seals are worn out and need to be replace, i've looked everywhere for these seals, no one had an answer, i even went to several companies that do custom seals, they all told me it would take about 8 weeks to get those done and it has to be sent to Japan to get the mold done, and it will cost me a lot of money for that process. 2 days ago i took the 2 front headlight washers off and noticed the little black rubber seal on the shaft is the exact same size with the seal in the hydraulic struts, so i tried it and shave off about 1 mm off the headlight washer seal and it fits perfectly. before the fluid used to squirt out from the sun visor mounts, now nothing, i played with the top, up and down about 20 time yesterday and everything work flawless, no more leaks. if anyone can take picture of that seal from the washer i would gladly put it on this forum with a detail description of how I did it, I already install mine, and not about to take them out again to take pictures. Hope this procedure will help someone on this forum, let me know, maybe we can tackle other issues with this car without spending a fortune on keeping it running nice.
Wow,
Do you find the absolute hardest way to fix something without spending 30 bucks. Do us all a favor and read this post please. I know you may think this is harsh but think about it, 144 views on your previous post and 4 replies and two of them are yours. Everybody is thinking exactly what I am telling you. Plus we all know what your car is all about and are reluctant to respond to your issues.
dude, why are you still on my a.s, i don't have cheese for you. you can go on and spend $30+$10 for shipping if you want, but i spent not a penny, maybe that's why you are so smart, or some low life who don't even own a benz, this one is my 6th, 3 190e, 2 e-class and 1 sl,so i'm sure you know i can afford $40, the key here my little brain seem to click a little faster then yours, it's only harder for you because you have to travel a great distance to even see a benz, mines are right outside, and i love playing with them, making sure that people like you hate on me. My car standing next to yours, will make yours looks like a honda, and it still runs better then yours, so f..k you redneck, if you have an issue with me. i come here ho help others, what have you done beside running your mouth about nothing, read your past posts. i would love to have a 1 on 1 with you computer ninja. for now on do not reply to my messages. let me remind you something a SL is not a trailer truck, so, STOP DREAMING.
also do yourself a favor, go find a website for truckers, you are a follower, not a leader, you will always be behind me, that's why you look for others to do, then follow, I'm sure you have read every one of my post, because you are looking for cheese, you always notice how i fix problems that everyone is trouble with, with a lot less time and money, and come here to pass it around, like the soft top window, cost me $80 with a way better plastic then OEM, everybody else i hear spend from $200-$600. everybody that have the non-xenon US headlights, hate the old fashion look and wants to upgrade to the $1800 xenon look, i came around and gave them the idea of how they can change that look without spending that kind of money. every week i come here and notice tons of post about hydraulic cylinders leaking, only hope there's is Dennis, i have talk to Dennis and he is a nice guy, he only charge $30, but i would still have to remove the locking mechanism then use a blow drier to remove the cylinder to send it to him, and if they get lost in the mail, I'm out $300, so i figure what's an extra 2 minutes to remove the ring on the cylinder to open it. dit it in the comfort of my home with things we all already have, for not even a penny. also did the mirror with the blinkers, everybody else get them from the CLK FOR $1200, I spend $30 on mine, got them on ebay, they are the same kind use on 2000-2006 s500. painted my car myself, everybody shop i went to was asking $1300-$2200 to paint my car, i wet to sherman williams and spent $250 on paint and materials and got a perfect job done. how you like those for a start? and i didn't even tackle the interior yet, beside adding an indash monitor with an indash dvd player with mp3 players, hold up to 2200 songs, no more need for a CD changer. so go ahead hate on me. I guarantee you'll always be behind me in any form or shape.
this could be the answere to many failed attempts to source a washer for the dreaded top cylinders. Maybe interiormagic could provide a photo of the washer or give a part number plus advise on which part to shave off. Did you use an old washer or new? had it been under compression before its new use? My car has already had the wipers removed so I cant help with a picture myself. Could we get the next owner of a top cylinder failure to complete this repair as per interiormagics specs and post an independant report on how the repair went. I will genuinley offer my car as a ginea pig if I suffer a failure first and have the repair info to hand. It might also be usefull to add any headlamp wiper washer to top cylinder conversion repair to lynns survey for a long term trial giving any future DIYer an educated choice of ............

i used the rubber seal on the shaft of the headlight washer, this part serve no real purpose on the headlight washer, because the washer is fully functional without it. the rubber washers were never under any pressure so they are a very good candidate, if you guys notice the shaft on the washer is the exact same size with the top cylinders' shaft, like i said, I'm the only one that went to many companies to get this done, because i know its one of our major issue. like i said earlier, I've spoke to Denis, he even give me a bargain on 2 cylinders for $50, you really cannot beat that unless you do what i did, but the fear of the cylinders getting lost in the mail is not ok with me, I'm not about to be out of $300 and have my car sit here. if i can have a picture of this washer by the weekend i will post a DIY, from how to properly remove the cylinders to fixing the problem. remember SNOWBILT or whatever you call yourself these days, i don't need money to help others here.

Really who was the one who's first post was "Please help I will return the favor" and we all know how that went. Nada, you shot your mouth off before you knew anything about soft tops.
I just state the facts and with your huge posts attacking character and talking about "stealing cheese" and "Trucking" you know your bogus. You ramble on like your explaining where you were when your wife/girlfriend/boyfriend caught you cheating.
I posted the most detailed DIY on how to replace the front cylinders so everybody could see how easy it was. Still waiting on you to contribute something other than empty promises and meth addict like solutions.
Moving on good buddy HONK HONK
Snowbilt OUT....in a real 500
i really don't care if you were the 1st or last one to post pictures about the cylinders, it is obvious you didn't do a good job at it, because there are many steps missing, i followed your crap and it was like a sign that tell you to take a left and when you take that left it's a dead end, i will be doing it right, go all the way, i'm sure your wife tell you that all the time. atleast i tried every thing to help with the soft top window and when i did it i decided it was too much for the average guy, and tell others to leave it to the professional, it end it up costing me $80, if you know anybody that can beat that go ahead and let us know about it. you don't have a character, you more like the gum under my shoe, you are what we consider white trash, i'm though wasting my precious time replying to your post, so go ahead and have the last word. HONK HONK move over white thrash.
Well you are the only one that couldn't follow the directions. Based on your grammar and spelling that wouldn't surprise me they could are related. I am not saying I could fix the top, I know I can't. Your the one that puked at the mouth before you even attempted it. Plus, it is amazing your spent 80 dollars on the fix. I thought you might have tried to use some type of heavy duty plastic wrap and tint it with a permanent marker. Instead of wiring up your rigged side mirrors just use some glow sticks. The only down side is you will have to put them in the freezer at night.
I said before, i wouldn't reply to your dumb post, but, this one is too funny, please read your previous post over, then talk about my grammar, at least i'm just typing away and not worry about spelling or grammar, and it's obvious that you do care about that, so, let me do you a favor and highlight them for you. My $80 soft top windows look better then yours, my s500 mirrors look better then yours, what else are you going to hate on?
