Xenon headlight auto-leveling control module

My xenons quit "self-leveling" and now they point towards the ground. Does anyone know the troubleshooting steps to uncover the fault?

Also, can the xenons be adjusted (aimed) manually? I saw the black thumbscrews at the rear of the housing, but what does each one do?

"auto-leveling" headlights

I have manually adjusted my lights but still need help diagnosing the "auto-leveling" circuit. Anyone have any ideas?

Xenon auto-leveling

My Xenon headlights stopped auto-leveling and are looking down now. Happened to both at the same time during driving. Checked fuses. Any ideas?

My driver's side headlamp leveler quit working but the passenger side is fine. I'm looking for the same help.

My 2000 S500 has the same problem. Factory Xenon’s that point straight down. Anybody got some ideas?

Thanks,
Jason

Here is a listing on ebay:
OEM Mercedes W140 Headlamps Control Module S600 S500 S - eBay (item 290388053067 end time Feb-28-11 12:54:52 PST) for $374.95 plus ship.

Hope this finally solves everyone's issues.

Mike
Thanks Mike. I looked it up in the EPC and sure enough that's the p/n and the answer to the Xenon problem so I'll post it giving you the kudos. FWIW, Parts.com shows an MSRP of $610.00 and a sale price of $418.60 plus S&H.

Thanks for that.
Would a faulty module also cause the light to be high and low at different times?

Also, is there any ajustments at the wheels?

"The front and rear axle sensors for the headlamp range adjustment sense any change in the vehicle level for the headlamp range adjustment control module. The control module compares the signals from the sensors with the headlamp adjustment and, if necessary, actuates the headlamp range adjustment motors in the headlamps to correct the angle of inclination. Correction of the angle of inclination is accomplished only when the signals for the changed vehicle level are present at the control module for a certain time. This prevents correction for short term changes in the level, e.g. suspension compression on rough roads. The ignition and low beam headlamps must be switched on for the electric headlamp range adjustment to operate."

URGENT!!!

Guys, i bought a couple of OEM xenon headlamps for my 1994 SL500.
As i thought that the leveling module is inside the unit, i didn't pay attention when purchasing them.. Now that i mounted them, i noticed they don't auto level!

Anyway, i contacted the owner(who BTW was selling his SL for parts), he told me no problem he will give me the leveling module+the sensors for free(hopefully).

Yet he doesn't know where they are located in the car...

So PLEASE guys, whoever knows their EXACT location, tell me... because he won't wait too long, he is moving to another country, and he is throwing the car..

I hope to have an answer tonight or tomorrow, so that i send him the info(+pics if possible)...

THaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaankssssssssssss.......... ....
