Does anyone knows if the 20003 SL5000 wheels fit a 19996 SL500?
one dealer told yes, another one told me no and the shop here in delaware the specialize in MB wheels told me the the bolts on 2003 are way bigger(thick) than the bolts of R129 and won't fit..
Thanks

The bolts you can work on to make it fit. New wheels has less offset which will stick out a little too much (around 1/2 of an in.); hence, it will "hurt" your car later
The R230 wheels have offsets of 33 and 30. Those are fine for the R129 and don't know why they would "hurt it." The AMG 18" R129 sport wheels have offsets of 25 and 23 and the 17" AMG 3-peice were 18 and 17. Factory offset on the R129 is 34 so these should be fine. By the way, there is a black R129 500SL in the parking lot of my office with the R230 AMG wheels as well. It can be done and I think they fill out the wheel wells nicely. The 16 and 17" factory wheels with 34 offset leave too much fender gap in my opinion.
The Wheels (specially the turbines) look HOT on the 129. Bolt holes are 2-3mm bigger than the ones on the R129 rims, but can be filled with tiny spacers on the bolts.
I am also interested in this topic. The R230 SL seven spoke wheels are 8.5x17 ET35 vs my stock 8x16 ET34 wheels. Should be a perfect fit. Issue remains the lug bolts. Can someone provide definitive guidance on 12mm lugs on wheels meant for 14mm lugs. What about lug length?
