Does anyone know if a patch panel is available to repair the inner rear fender, at the point where it covers the end of the rocker? (I believe this actually part of the rear outer wheelhouse).
I was going to make a patch panel, but it's tough to do the angle where the wheel arch lip is. The drivers side was a lot worse - I got this entire area cut out of another car to repair it, but for this side I just need a small patch panel, but haven't been able to find any where that supplies one.
Yes - I did that at the front as well. But note that you're then missing the extra return bend back up where the inner fender piece is originally spot-welded to the lip of the fender.
Hard to describe, but I think this extra 'return' is more important (and more visible) on the rear than it is on the front (especially when you fit the front plastic fender liners!).
I was wondering if someone might have a car they were parting out that was solid in this area. On the other side I did that (welded in an entire section), because it was a lot worse - even the 'frame rail' had rusted out. I was just going to make my own patch for this side until I discovered this yesterday. I might still do that...
I cut out some of my rear sill today, looks like I have a job on my hands, it is just as bad as the front area I had to rebuild.
:frown Ouch....Neither of my sills (rockers) were that bad, but the inner sill (and the rail that curves up over the axle) were very bad on the passenger side.
It looks as if someone fitted an 'over sill' at some point to cover up the problem (?)

PS I managed to find a NOS outer wheelhouse on Ebay at a reasonable price; should be here in a couple of days. I'm going to cut patches out of to repair my inner fender, but yours is a couple of magnitudes worse...
I have several photos of the area under the car (where my damage was worst), which I'll post tonight when I get back from work, but not much from the outside.
Here's some photos of both the area I repaired, and also the sections I received from another forum member to weld in (I think those show the structure better than the actual car).
You'll notice that I decided the only way to do the job properly was to remove the rear sub-frame and the gas tank
I'll add a few more photos to the next post (I seem to have reached a limit on this one)
Hi Steve, these pictures are perfect. Ouch $2000 for a new leg! I think I will just have to fabricate it as best I can as there is close to no chance to find a rust free second hand one in the UK.
I suppose I am lucky that I have more of the rocker cut away so access from the front side is better, I do plan to remove the rear suspension at some point in the future so will get a better look round the back but that will have to wait a while.
Being an ex-pat myself (moved to the US about 20 years ago), I know the chances of finding a rust-free donor in 'Ol Blightly are pretty slim. However, I think that if you asked on the forum (classified) you would probably find someone over here who would help out; I think several members are regularly breaking cars. Another alternative is to ask Ebay sellers - there's several in desert areas in the US who often have good shells that are accident damaged. Even if they won't ship internationally, they could ship to a US member. I found that the area on my car would fit in a 'flat rate' UPS shipping box, which made domestic shipping inexpensive; can't speak for the international.
...You're a lot braver than me, welding that close to the carpets! Repair looks pretty good though - hope you're making good progress. I did most of mine today (a lot easier) - I'll post some photos in a separate post in a moment...

PS Just checked out the LiquidTT - impressive; seems like we have a similar taste in electronic 'gadgets' as well as cars - a few years ago I posted on JagForums the arduino based 'glass' ODBII instruments I made to replace the center clock on my car (though I never finished that project...)
With the rust (thankfully) confined to the inner fender, but extending about 10" up from the bottom of the rocker panel (to just above the hole to mount the small stainless/rubber trim on the outside of the fender), I decided to buy a NOS rear outer wheelhouse (the outer part of the inner fender, if that makes sense!). Luckily I found one on ebay that was pretty beat up, but still solid and the right shape - clearly it had been hanging around in someone's garage for years. (Part number is 1076370276 if anyone else is looking for one)
I then cut this up, creating a patch panel that covered the required area. I used the two trim mounting holes (lower one is for the stainless rocker trim) to bolt it in place temporarily, and pull it into place. I drilled out the old spot welds in the edge of the outer fender and was able to weld it in place fairly easily.
I've also cut out a small piece (about 4") from the rear of the outer wheelhouse to patch the rear end of the inner fender, where it meets the bumper. A previous owner had patched the outer fender here, but had just left the inner to rust hidden behind the bumper.
Photos attached - hopefully these may help someone...
Nice job, I'll have a look round ebay to see if I can find one like that.
As for the liquidTT, it started off as just a little project for my own car, and now 10 years later I am now selling off my last production batch with 2000 units sold.
Yes, a fair bit of rebuilding on the chassis rail........
...then the inner rocker.......
...then a new jacking tube and outer rocker...
I also fitted a new feature, the brass pipe diverts the drain hose from the soft top compartment that normally empties into the sill contributing to the rust, it will now empty out the bottom of the brass pipe.
First I drilled a couple of holes.
Looks like this on the inside behind the rear side cover.
Do you have a picture of the front of your rocker, I need to make up a patch tomorrow but I'm not too sure what it should look like. All the pictures I have seen are a bit unclear.

Hello, I'll introduce myseld my name is alex 34 years old and i am french.
I allow myself to come on your forum because I am desperately looking to join the inventor of the liquidtt, who is on your forum but I cannot send him a message (racediagnostics)
I have had his invention for 10 years, but unfortunately I broke the lcd screen and I am looking to be able to replace it.
I try my luck here desperately, hoping that I can find a solution.
Sorry for my English and sorry to bother you like that.
Alex a French in galley.
thank you for your answer,
as explained above, I have owned your liquidtt for a 10 years
But unfortunately I broke the lcd screen, I am trying in vain to change it.
Could you tell me if it is possible to change it? or else my liquid is dead?
Thank you
Contact a company in Germany called display3000 (also knows as "speed it up"), they may be able to supply an LCD, there were two types distinguished by the connector type. You will need to remove the LCD, take close up pic and enquire if they can supply a replacement.
Your answer gives me hope, I would love it to work
I'm going to contact them .
Sorry to have contacted you in this way ... thank you again !!
